Any of you 305 or 786 residence ever heard of a public tour at Taurus?  Since they are located here I was wondering if any of you have been to their manufacturing plant.
Even though we are talking about TAURUS.... still I would like to see how the stuff is made.

I was there a few years ago to bring a 44 mag. for repair and I was not even allowed on the property. Stopped at the gate by security guards.
I had to come back home, pack the gun and ship it overnight by Fedex for some 65 dollars.
I live 30 minutes from them. So I am not sure about being able to tour the place.

Are they actually made there? I was under the impression that they were just imported, and actually made in Brazil.

from what i understand they were making barrels for smaller calibers and parts and r&D , but best to call and ask before just showing up. not every place allows visitors.

wasn't that building F.I.E at one time
FIE= Firearms Import and Export  Titan guns
sorry showing my age, that was like 25 years ago
I also believe the same building was a huge wholesale fishing tackle
place at the same time.

A lot of these places are not allowing tours these days, even with a school club haven't gotten permission anywhere in east central area. It's a shame, most certainly would build business when people are stopping by to look over the process.

No shit.  I work at the Opa Locka airport.  No wonder it has a high fence.  That's about the shittiest area in one of the shittiest towns I've ever seen.

I had the same problem with a 1911 made by them.
I showed up and denied. Called them up and they told me tuff. Never again.

Hell, you must be pretty damn close to me.  I'm right on the Pines/Miramar line just off Red Road

The president of Taurus, Bob Morrisson, shoots Trap out at Markham Park.  The ATA shoots (one weekend a month IIRC) and sometimes on Wed. night, the 'Trap Club' night.  He seemed like a pretty nice guy.  I pulled for him more then a few times, and back when Taurus was making all the 22LR Winchester clones I kidded him that a Taurus/Win 63 rifle would make a great tip for my Trap-pulling services...he gave me $5 instead.
