I want to buy a pistol from a private owner.  Are there any laws that pertain to this in Maryland? Do I have to fill out any forms or do they require any type of permits?

Last I heard it's still perfectly legal to do a person to person sale in MD. If you don't get the answer you're looking for in this forum you can check the "Hometown" forum for MD. There are a lot of knowledgable people that could help you there.

Gotta go through an FFL or to the local the State Police barracks (not all do transfers either).  No FTF in MD.

Yep, you need to go to the state police barracks.  Both of you go down.  Gun stays in the car, both of you go in and do some paperwork.

As stated above.  Just to add........if you are in Central MD the guys at the Jessup MSP barracks are excellent to work with.  Very professional.....

No one has told you that you also will be required to wait 7 days to take the handgun home with you.  Stupid MD waiting period even applies to AR's (except an H-BAR).

Also, bring your checkbook for the $10 registration fee.

I didn't see any mention of the full body cavity search.

You're the only one that gets the search.
