...haven't seen any cliff notes for this just yet, ...it was recently introduced and is being talked about on local forums, and appears this includes significant changes a lot of folks would be interested in....

I would love to see churches be removed from the "prohibited" list.  What business does the government have dictating what a church shall or shall not permit?  It is private property.

Except those like mine that rent out space at a school.

Anyone know where eiterh HB203 that would give Ohio a stand your ground law, and SB60 which would eliminate the journalist loophole to obtain CHL holder's info stand?

How does your church feel about it? I know of a large local congregation that has a "security team" made up members. They have a safety plan ad interact with local PD who are there for ttraffic control

from OFCC forums website:
http://ohioccwforums.org/viewtopic.php?f=3&t=74352

Here's a list of what the bill changes for those who find looking at actual bills too scary:

1. CHL can leave gun in car on school property.

2. Day cares, churches, airplanes and government buildings no longer CPZs.

3. Can carry in publically accessible areas of police stations, sheriffs offices and Highway Patrol posts.

4. Can carry in non-secured areas of airport terminals.

5. Colleges and universities given option to allow concealed carry on campus.

6. Handguns returned to Affirmative Defense law.

This is awesome, too bad my liberal fucking school will never allow CC on campus

This just gives schools the option, but as most colleges are liberal they won't allow it anyway.  It's too bad this bill doesn't make carrying on at public universities legal by default.

In a way i am glad it doesn't. Schools have LOTS of political pull and lobbyists.   This bill would have a harder time passing if it were included.  Better to pass this then add later.

I suppose we could do what the left does -- progressively get what it wants.  Once this passes, "It's allowed in other public institutions, why not public schools at all levels?"  It's how things have gone over the last 100 years...it's time to roll it back.

That's what they've done since the carry law first passed.

If this bill passes anywhere close to as written, I'd think Ohio would be one of the most firearm friendly states in the U.S.

I know Michigan allows CHL holders can open carry inside schools, police stations and other public buildings but they also have to register their handguns

But aren't they working to get that killed

Maag’s bill will next wait for a hearing in House committee, a standard practice for all bills introduced early enough in the session. The General Assembly is on summer break until September.

Come on September!

Yeah, no doubt. Obviously there's been an epidemic of lawful CCW'ers shooting cops in Police Stations that we must have missed.

Good point. lets get this passed then work on the rest. Incremental ism works well for the libtards, should work for us too.
