If you have a 10 round magazine, and you replace the original follower with a single loading follower, would the magazine now be legal for hunting?

There is no limit on rifles or handguns, only on shotguns no more than 3 rds. If I'm wrong someone please correct me.

No restriction on rifle mag capacity in California. I've hunted coyotes with an AR and a 30 round mag.
