I think it was for the attorney general or something and David Viviano (R) was going against Eric Smith (D).

Boy, that Eric Smith sure is an arrogant SOB. He supports "Shall Issue" CCWs but is absolutely against Assault Weapons. But Viviano surprised me by saying that the AWB of 94 was a gimmick feel-good piece of legislation and that he fully supports the 2nd Amendment and supports law abiding citizens purchasing assault rifles. He supports potential future bans/legislation on Assault Rifles only if they're really effective.

The GOPers in the house in Michigan are trying to strike a 'middle ground'. They are arguing against assault weapons laws on the basis that you can't ban them all such as to keep them from the criminals hands, otherwise they are a good idea.

They think that will keep them in good shape with the hunters, us, and the soccer moms.
