This was in (Red)Star and Tribune this morning:
Anoka County man is first to lose permit under new gun law
Jim Adams, Star Tribune

Published September 5, 2003 PERM05

An Anoka County man who fired 11 shots into his brother's car apparently is the first Minnesotan to have a gun permit suspended since the state's new law on carrying guns in public took effect in May.

Damian Petersen, 34, of Oak Grove, said he was protecting his recently landscaped home from his brother, who had gotten a car stuck on a retaining wall and was tearing up the lawn trying to free the vehicle.

Attorneys said Petersen will be able to get his gun and permit back in two years if he meets conditions set when he pleaded guilty to felony reckless discharge of a firearm.

The new law allows most mentally competent, law-abiding adults to obtain a permit to carry a handgun. Petersen obtained his permit a few weeks after the law took effect.
What a dumbass. It took so long to change this law and I am surprised the TV stations haven't led their newscasts with this.

The CCW holder, Damian Petersen, called a radio talk show yesterday and filled in some more info. From my memory, the incident happened on Damian Peterson's(DP) property. He owns 5 acres and with the surrounding wetlands and woods, he's on essentially a 10 acre plot, no neighbors close or in danger. He and his brother were arguing, sounded like he was kicking his brother off of his property because brother was drunk/high. DP doesn't allow alcohol or drugs on his property. DP goes into house and about 20 minutes later there's a large bang, brother had rammed retaining wall and house. DP grabs gun and runs outside. Brother is hung up on retaining wall and ripping up yard trying to get off wall. DP shoots engine because he's afraid of the damage his brother will do when truck gets free. Truck gets free and brother starts leaving, DP tries to shoot tire to stop a completely out of control brother. Says he's worried about brother hitting someone.

DP said he did an extremely dumb thing and he apologized to the CCW holders for the bad press.
He and his brother have made up somewhat.

This should not be a CCW issue, he was on his own property, he wasn't even CCW on his own property. He grabbed the gun in response to the bang. It sounded like he kept it in his hand at all times.

Editted for horrible spelling

That Guy is an Idiot!!! People like him will get the law repealed. Even on your own property you can't shoot up someone's car. He should never be allowed to see a permit again and should have his guns taken away. I believe in concealed carry, but this guy has proven that he is unsafe with firearms and a danger to others. What if a ricochet had hit his brother? You can only use deadly force to prevent death or great bodily harm to yourself or others. Not for property crimes. 11 shots into the engine and then reloads to shoot at the tires. A bit overboard in my opinion.

Damn straight, he should apologize!

Not that it will happen, but he should publicly apologize and explain that what he did was wrong and had nothing to do with CCW on the local liberal news stations. dumbasses like this ruin it for us all.
