I may have the oportunity to buy a transferable MAC-10 SMG in the next few months, but I have some questions about state law.

1: Has anyone gotten one in Michigan yet?

2: Does it have to be registered as a pistol?

3: Can it be carried under a CCW Permit?

1: Has anyone gotten one in Michigan yet? Yup. Got a PS M-10 45acp and was one of the first transferable transfers to a private citizen in MI under the new opinion.

2: Does it have to be registered as a pistol? Yes and No. Safer bet Yes. The M10 is defined as a MG and there is no state registration statute for mg's. Pistols - i.e. under 30" do require registration. So we are registering the short mg's as pistols just for the sake of an argument even though they are two different things.

3: Can it be carried under a CCW Permit? No mg or federally registered firearm should be carried under your CPL i.e. CCW license. There may not be a law against it but it would not be a smart thing to have to explain why you would be carrying a mg! If you had to use it - you'd be in a world of shit. We just talked about carring AOW's in the AOW thread, I mean you prolly could but why?
