There are smiths in Houston.
But the M1 and M1a are different ducks and I don't know anyone that works on that patern gun so I would send it out. Springfield armory or Fulton armory are your best bets. Do you want just anyone working or learning on your gun? Send it UPS. Double box it and insure it. No need to use a FFL. |

Go to National Match Armoury.com
Eric Pierce does work on them,anything you want done.He builds the NRA presentation Garands,shoots service rifle with them too. All he will work on are '03,sM1A,s and Garands. He is south of DFW,but worth a road trip. |

Tim Strait at Warbird's Custom Guns is in Houston, I've had him build a m14 for me and the work was top notch.
