I recently took my CCW class, and was given the option of a LA licence or a Florida one. I went with Florida as more states seemed to accept it, including Arkansas. Arkansas will not accept LA, and I travel there quite a bit.
Question is this: On the odd chance that you are asked to brandish your licence, do you get any static having the Florida one? Are LEOs pretty up on the local laws regarding CCW?

Its been about 2.5 months since I sent my paperwork in, I hope to have it later this month.

Actually, Arkansas now excepts the LA permit as of the first of this month.  I would rather have a LA permit over a FL permit myself since the LA permit is excepted in SC.  The LA and FL permits cover about the same number of states, just not all the same states.  Another downside to the FL permit is that some states (CO, KS, MI, WV and NH) will not recognize it if you aren't a FL resident.

Thanks for the info. I heard that La was working something out with Arkansas because they were tired of seeing the potential $$ go to Florida. I just didnt think it would happen that fast.

The best answer is to get both.  I actually have three, becasue I did NH as well.

Some of the states identified in the map only recognize the Florida permit if you are a resident of Florida.
