Some of you may have met him shooting at GF but he rarely went there. Doug was more interested in tactical drills and practice out in the boonies, where I and another friend from work would often go along. He was also a regular IDPA shooter at Sam's and Wade's about five years back.

Lately his life started to fall apart and I won't go into details. Suffice to say, if any of you ever feel that there is no hope and the only way out is to eat a 1911 then talk to someone. Talk to everyone. I don't care how destitute you get and end up living in a treehouse or the VW Beetle your wife left you, because none of that matters. People still care about you and want your company, most of all your family - which some of us are to a degree. Life can be de-stressed and material losses don't mean shit. Trust me, I know from first hand experience. Life is what you make of it and happiness can be found in every situation. There is no reason to quit like that.

Enough. If anyone is interested in services I'll find out in a couple days.

I hope you have some good memories to savor in the years to come. Sometimes you get so overwhelmed by all the turdballs life is tossing you, you just feel like putting down your mitt. Any time you're in da hood, we'll toast him with some good Irish grog.

Hate to hear that. It's never as bleak as people think it is, but it's hard for them to see it. Sorry for your loss.

Thanks Tweak. The family should be ok with support from church and friends.

Doug leaves a wife of many years, and son, and two daughters who are all grown up now. He was living at home alone and dealing with the crisis of divorce, financial problems, and work stress.
