Saw this posting on another forum - seems the Sig rifle may be coming back.
Since I cannot afford the pre89 551, may be something to add to the collection.

I'm with GACop on this one.  This shit has been in the rumor mill since before the semi-auto ban expired.

My understanding from conversations with some folks "in the know" was that Swiss Arms owns the production capabilities and rights to make the 55x series and had no desire to deal with having to make them over here.

Also, that price seems very low.  When they were available, SIG's dealer pricing was right around there, if not a bit higher.  Also, the PE90's they sell in Canada fetch about $2800 Canadian.  

At any rate, I'll be anxious to see what they have at the SHOT Show.

I've got a guy on the inside at SIG.  Don't expect any version of the 550's.  SIG will introduce a new rifle at the SHOT show BASED on the 550's, but it will have a polymer lower and accept AR mags.  About the only thing the 550's will contribute are the barrels, the gas system, and maybe the trigger assembly.
