Kaine said the oil companies make huge profits — $26 billion in net income last year, he said — and they certainly have enough cash to give them a cushion so they can hold prices for awhile.

"The oil companies need to show a sense of sacrifice," he said.

Gee how much have the oil companies lost in damaged refineries, oil rigs and pipelines? If this doesn't hammer it home that he is a socialist, then nothing will.

Kaine's also stupid. If prices are set artificially low then the gas stations won't have any to sell. So what if gasoline is only $.99 per gallon if it's not available?

High prices will encourage people to conserve more than any government regulation or enviro org's educational program could, which will help ensure availability.

I should send Kaine a copy of Thomas Sowell's Basic Economics.

And what sacrifices has he made? I love it when these liberals want to commit everyone else to a cause (either through higher taxes or by trying to guilt people into something) but make no sacrifices themselves. Lead by example.

Bingo! Sure I'd like to pay less, but this is a pure market situation. Supply is short and demand is high. Until one of those conditions changes, prices will remain high or shortages will heppen.

What an idiot. Big oil companies also engage in some of the most expensive and dangerous activities in the world, and need that cash to stay self-insured and continue exploration.

I hope you're kidding.

What about the fact that he used taxpayer dollars (and then got called on it and used other cash) to send people to the million mom march? I'll forgive him for a moment (ETA, I changed my mind, that's just too stupid) for his ignorance of economics, but to be in anyway associated with those gun grabbers makes my blood boil.

You have got to be kidding me? So your a fan of higher taxes, oppresive gun laws and a big socialist government? I don't want to sound like an ass or anything, but you would probably find happiness living in MD, MA or NY.

Anyone got thier Tim Kaine decoder ring yet?

Got mine!

“Congratulations on acquiring a genuine, top of the line Tim Kaine Decoder Ring. The Tim Kaine Decoder Ring is the kind of breakthrough product that can change a whole campaign. It is that powerful. How so?

Well, Tim Kaine has obviously put a lot of time and effort into coming up with “code words” meant to hide the obvious, and confuse audiences. He has turned his work for the biggest tax increase in Virginia history into, in his words, “budget reform” and “investment.” Impressive, ain’t it?

Tim Kaine raised taxes on smokers, on shoppers, on homebuyers, on YOU and everyone you know, but he can’t say it! And for good reason. A massive surplus in Richmond proves there was no reason to raise your taxes! So now Mr. Kaine travels the state talking about “budget reform” and “investment.” But Tim Kaine didn’t plan on the Tim Kaine Decoder Ring. Now when he tries to say “budget reform” you’ll know he means the massive tax increase that was unnecessary. When he says “moving forward” you’ll know he means, “I hiked your taxes, and now there is a huge surplus proving I was wrong.” It’s that easy. It’s that fun. And it is all thanks to the Tim Kaine Decoder Ring.

Tell your family and friends, the days of wondering what Tim Kaine means with his code words are all over! The Tim Kaine Decoder Ring: For When You Absolutely, Positively, Have to Know What He Is Talking About. Today!!

Say goodbye to any gun you own. With people like him in power it will not be long till gun bans make a comeback. The guy did nothing for Richmond. If you call having a good stance on crime reducing murders from number 8 in the nation per capita to number 6 in the nation then he is your man.

Look at this
Year of 2000
Year of 1999
Year of 1998
Year of 1997 (Not even on the list)

He started project exile in the city but then put an end to it towards the end of his term because they were locking up too many black youth. He turned a blind eye to all the corruption we had in the city council and did nothing for the city but vote the democrat line.

This guy is bad news. Don’t give him a promotion people. Send him packing.

A member of the Virginia State Police voting for Tim Kaine ? Does the VSP want more gun control ? Well that was a dumb question. They only want criminals to have guns. The last Richmond gun show told me all I need to know about VSP and HPD.

So far Kaine is the only candidate who answered the VCDL survey. Mark Warner has been bad on taxes IMO but has been far better then Gilmore on gun rights.

That said the oil company quote is pretty dumb- tho it plays to the way the Democratic base thinks.

Have his answers to the VCDL survey been posted?

I don't believe they have but I have been told they were rather pro-gun (although not perfect).
