Hello
I am looking to do a hunt in Montana next year, any members out here willing to point me in the right direction or hook me up with info...looking for Elk/deer.
Cost is a concern, so probably no guide services.

The whole damn state has good hunting.  If you could get a permit in an area that borders Yellowstone, you could do pretty well.  Seriously.  In Idaho, that late-season, migration hunt is highly sought after.

Go to the East.

Certainly east side for deer. My uncles that live on that side of the state tend to get one every year.

Elk you might be better to stay in the western part of the state up in the mountains. Problem is there are way too many freaking people around. Sometimes hard to find places you can hunt.

Keep talking about the elk in the southwest being over-populated. Possibility of an either sex hunt this year.
