I am mostly a lurker but would love to show the wife that all the time I spend on AR15.com is not wasted.

She is visiting Cornell University Hospital & Children's Hospital of New York on business the end of the month.  I think she is flying into LaGaurdia Airport.  She is very nervous having never been in NYC.

What would be a good centrally located hotel in a safe area for her to stay in the $300/night range?  Transportation?

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks,
GatorEng

go to priceline.com, enter a price of 100-150 and choose a 4 star hotel in the area she wants to stay, u will score one.

Take City taxis , they are metered, and easy to get

If she's here on business and said business is picking up the tab, spoil a little.

Thanks for the replies.

She is on business so she has to go through the corporate travel agency.  Cost isn't a factor.  She has traveled alot but never New York City.  She is freaking out a little.  To much Law & Order.

This is the problem with "pop" media -- too much b.s. that is portrayed as "reality" and the feeble-minded public falls for it.

NYC is no less safer than any other major urban area.  In fact it is probably MORE safer.

The past two mayoral administrations have done a good job (imho) of making crime prevention a priority and cleaning up the city.

Please set your spouse straight, and tell her to calm down.  The only scary part of NYC are the bleeding heart liberals running around violating our 2nd Amendment rights.

I certainly agree, she has no problem going downtown Atlanta which is probably alot more dangerous than downtown NYC.

DoubleTree in Times Square or Hilton a few blocks up.  Both I heard are very nice.  Marriot is there too.  Take you pick when it's someone eles's dime.

If your going to stay in times square I would stay away from the marriott Times sq.  It's nice as a tourist...but the wait for those damn elevators can be brutal during rush hour for people rushing to meetings.

If your looking for times sq...I personally like the Westin in times sq 8th ave as opposed to brdwy/7th ave.
I also like a little further up...is the Sheraton Towers / SHeraton Manhattan...51st and 7th ave.

There is a marriott on the east side on 48th st...That's nice.
THere's a W on Lexington on 48th st...Rooms are Tiny...but nice really nice spa...Plus they use bliss shampoo and stuff....
THere's the Waldorf on park/lex and 48th st...those are nice rooms (hilton chain)

as for transportation from LGA...it's a piece of cake via taxi.
There's always a taxi line right outside of the terminal so a taxi would not be scary at all.

Have any other ?'s feel free to e-mail me.
good luck
chris

If you're still looking for suggestions, check out the Washington Square Hotel.  Before I lived here, I stayed there a few times with nice results.  I'm a big fan of the village.
