I'm trying to help out a family member and I'm looking for a good Porsche mechanic to replace the IMS bering on a 996 series 911. The dealer, I'm told, is outrageous so I thought I'd check if y'all knew one.

Wichita, Salina, or Kansas City are all within reach.

IMS has not failed, yet, and they're trying to get it done before it happens and a new engine is needed.

Thanks, y'all!

Their first attempt at liquid cooled engines was far from perfect. I would suggest selling it and invest the money in either a 997 or go back to a 993 with the oil cooled engine. The non-DFI 997.1's have gone down in price and have far fewer problems than the 996's, especially pre-02 (I would run from one of those). The front end of the 996 are also a bit.....odd.

Not my car, not my money, car was purchased without consulting me.

Also there's a big step up in money if you get outside of a 996.
