This burn ban is starting to piss me off really bad. I bought a new house in Broken Arrow a month ago and still cant grill outside. How many fires has peoples gas or charcoal grills started? How come we cant grill but stores are still allowed to sell cigarettes and things like that?

Maybe we need an Assualt Weapons Ban to stop all the senseless killings...Oh wait, they already tried that and it didnt work.

First of all, gas grilling is NOT and never was banned. I wouldn't think very many fires have started by charcoal grilling. However, the potential is there. Most of these fires are intentionally set and the last one I went on (a day or so ago) the owners lit up a trash pile because we had some rain earlier that day.

If you bought a new house in B.A. then you can afford to buy a new propane grill. That being said, what's your problem again?

Wasnt propane grilling banned at first? Then they said it was ok? I think I remember hearing it on Ch 8. I dont really have a problem. Just wanting to complain a little. I think the estrogen up here is rubbing off on me I'm just ready to grill. I just dont see why grilling is banned when it hasnt started any of the fires. Maybe we should make arson a crime that way that will stop most of those grass fires

ETA: I prefer charcoal to the bland taste of gas. And be safe out there. I know those grass fires and high winds arent a good mix.

I've got several brush piles I need to burn but I won't DARE do it because of these high winds and dry weather. I really need to get them cleared but I'm just going to have to wait.
I've seen more brush fires this year than I have seen my entire life. Watching about 6 or 7 miles of fires in the dark looked like a scene from the apocalypse. And all the damn sight seers coming to look up close is something that pisses me off.
Some clown off of Hwy 74 just south of the Cimarron River started a fire from grilling hamburgers that got about a 1/4 acre of his yard and another 14,000 acres or so on BOTH sides of the Cimarron River.
Dustin, if you're house got burnt to the ground or lost 800 os so acres of pasture because of someone grilling hamburgers, you might have a really dim view of cook outs right now.

99.9% of all grass fires start on the side of the road, and around 99% of those are caused by people throwing cigarettes out of car windows. Too lazy to use their ash trays!

Why use your ash tray when you have a perfectly good road to throw it on?

Just kidding! I agree with you whole heartedly, Wingman!

If i catch anyone tossing a butt out the window,i report them.
there has been too much property damage, injury and too many firefighters working overtime to let jackasses get away with that kind of behavior.

I grilled dinner for me and the wifey a couple of nights ago (on a gas grill). After dinner we went back out on the deck and lit a fire in the chimenea. Enjoyed a couple glasses of wine, and then it dawned on me. WE ARE UNDER A BURN BAN. Oh well, what's done is done. We did enjoy the evening tho.

Lots of sick b*stards out there will start fires just for grins and giggles. Two days after the fire near my place, somebody lit up about 20 round bales right off Hwy 74.
Mostly kids with firecrackers. I don't think it is firefighters doing it - I know a few that would put bullets in ANYBODY they caught lighting up grass fires.
They aren't the only ones that would do it!

we all know at least one or three of those heros, I can think of three in one VF dept., couple of them work as additional security for outdoor events at the casino, talk about throwing gas on a fire.
