Any one know if it is legal to put a folding stock on a USGI M1 Carbine if the gun was purchased with a normal stock?
I'm thinking that since the gun was made long before 94 it'll be considered preban, plus I saw one at the recent gunshows that had a folder, but it was being sold by that asshat AR "dealer" that was talking about how tactical the collapsable stock was and that those are legal again.
As for why I might put one on if it's legal? Just for the hell of it.
Thanks for any info.

If it is a preban M1 carbine, and not a newly manufactured clone rifle,  I don't think there is any legal issue at all. Just like putting a folding/collapsing stock on an M1A-fine if pre-Sept. 94.

that's what I figured, as the gun is almost definitely from the 40s as it is USGI. But I've also heard it had to be in preban configuration before the ban
