My significant other's father just got laid off from his job in the tech engineering industry in the north metro area.

They informed him by calling him into an office where the managers firing him proceeded to cry (yes, sobbing w/ tears) about the situation, fearing they'd be next.

Then (as is standard procedure for this firm) SECURITY ESCORTS YOU OUT and your things are mailed to you.

Oh but wait, they still want you to work until mid-April after which you will receive a five month severance benefit.

I understand the economy sucks... but SECURITY escorting you out like you're some hoodlum trespassing?!

I guess they're trying to avoid any Postal Incidents from someone going apeshit over losing their job.

I was told right before Christmas our plant was going to close before the next year was up. The corporate office went on with this big charade about a capacity study to see which plant needed to be closed. The whole time they knew it would be Albany. Wherever they had a plant the state and local governments shelled out all this money and tax breaks to keep there plants open. Albany gave them the biggest package offered. A 5 million bond upfront and 32milliion to back that up. They still are closing our plant. My last day is May1st. Good luck to all that lose their jobs.
