I stopped by Kesselrings to see if they had an M16A2 style Bushmaster AR15.
I was all set to buy it if they did.
I was also there to buy a couple of mags for my 1911 and to finger fuck the $750 Benelli M3  shotgun.

After waiting for 10 minutes after the rifle guy goes looking for a Bushmaster he comes back with a $1600 dollar AR-10

I leave there and go to the hand gun counter. There are 4 guys working the counter and four guys at the counter (including me).
Two guys are selling guns and one is selling ammo. As soon as I walk up the 4th guy walks away. It was the younger kid with the attitude.

I wait another 10 minutes and finally Wayne says Hi to me. This is the same guy I bought my 1911 from last month. I start to ask him a question and he walks away.

The 4th guy comes back from who knows where (he has the silver lower snaggle toof in his mouth and a full beard.)

He looks at me and asks if I have been helped.
I say no and then I tell him I want a couple of mags for my 1911.
As he moved away I noticed a Bushmaster 16 inch AR laying on top of the loose ammo behind the counter.
I ask Wayne what's the deal with that AR.
He stops what he is doing, glares at me and says "I have no idea, I don't deal with guns".

At that point snaggle tooth comes back with the mags and tosses them on the counter.
I ask him what's up with the AR15 behind the counter and he tells me to ask Wayne.

I did a slow count to 10, then 20 and then thought to my self "fuck it, I am here already" so I moved to the cash register to pay for the mags.

I finally had enough and asked snaggle tooth what the heck was wrong with everyone in the store.
Snaggle tooth looked at me and said nothings wrong, it's a normal day.

I said yea, normal, crappy customer service with a crappy attitude by the salesmen.
He refused to look at me and looked at the floor and said "sorry".

I said damn right, you guys are sorry. (I wanted to say sorry pieces of shit but I figured that 1 Gunrunner would post that I had violated the forum rules )

I said "What's your deal? You don't like working here? You don't make enough money? Ron treats you like shit? Why do you and the rest of the guys here have such a shitty attitude?"

He turned red in the face and again mumbled "sorry".

Then one of the older ladies came over and said "oh, don't worry, everyone is sick with a cold and it's Christmas."
I asked her what about the rest of the year when everyone is not sick.
She walked away.

When I was done I once again asked snaggle tooth what the deal was. He told me "sorry" again.

I then said "I guess it's true what the internet forum boards say, that you guys suck" and walked out.

Oh yea, as I was walking out Ron Kesselring stopped me and pulled out a Bushmaster Varmit gun and told me that I didn't want to buy one of those "army" guns, that I wanted the Varmit gun.

Wow, if they were closer, I too would not patronize them.

Whats the matter with some business owners? I spend extra money at some places because they have excellent customer service. I'll overlook poor selection and high prices, but not poor CS.

Does Kesslerings really have that kind of rep amongst gun nuts? Where are they located?

I'm surprised after hearing as much as I have about how they do business that anyones willing to even walk in the place.......I'd tell them to get F%@#ed for less.

They are in Belligham. I'm not even going to waste my time with the bad attitudes, crappy customer service, and POOR selection of evil assault rifles. I need to open up my own store of just evil rifles and such with good customer service and prices. Who would buy from me?

Actually they are just past Skagit Speedway on Old 99 North and still in Skagit County.
It's the Cook Rd. exit off I-5 going north, left on Old 99 and some ways up you pass the speedway and then a minute later Kesselring gun shop on the left.

Bought quite a bit of stuff from em, never any weapons, but supplies and the like.
Black rifle type weapons the far right counter.

On my side of the state we have a few of those places, I simply avoid them.  As a favor to them, I recommend other respectable dealers that do not cheat or lie and have manners.

Do you best to cost them business as a favor to the rest of us.

I have been treated very well by Kesselrings...on the phone...in the store. They even let me shop the warehouse once to save time.

I hear about these situations frequently but I have not been able to reproduce them.

Sorry you had a bad experience.

I would have paid $$$ just to see you say that to them!!! Good job!!!

Ron can shove his Varmit guns up his crabby ass - I made my last trip up there several months ago, and finally called it a "day" after being a local customer for over 20 years.

I have had it with him and his "Crusty Crab" gun shop.

I quit dealing with those guys a couple of years ago, as they weren't knowledgeable and weren't helpful.

Once while looking at a Sig 228, I asked if I could break it down a little  to take a look, which freaked out the guy behind the counter.  He cautioned me that "things just going flying every which way" when you do that.  He might have had it mixed up with a 1911, but obviously knew nothing about the firearm he was selling.   Unfortunately this sort of  incompetance was the general rule.

DJ's in Bothell is a pretty good shop, a lot of handguns, and they know what they're talking about.

ARSTC's  new manager ( Bob ) is a complete moron who scoffed at making $65  for a 10 minute FFL xfer and completing one form 4473.

I had some LE6920's transfered thru him and he saw the invoice and the smoking deal I got and instantly got the red ass saying ' we wont be doing any more of these transfers for you when we can sell you the same guns'  !!!

Little did he know that's the 1st placed I checked w/ as the ban was nearing an end. I spoke w/ every employee there and the word on all Colt LE rifles was .... " no we do not have any - no we cannot get you any"

So I went and found them myself and had them transfered thru them at a preset price w/ James.

I have not been back there since that day. That was 4 months ago and I only live 60 seconds from their shop.

As I stated before .... I talk w/ my wallet.

Yeagers is the only place to shop in the Bellingham area. Their selection is not as big but they will sit and chat for ever about the latest and greatest. Mike who runs the counter is a great guy, knows his stuff and they have very fair prices.  Tight kesselphinkterring has its place, but only after you have used up all other resources.

I seem to remmember them not being honest about a suicide that was at the range when you called to ask...( someone called bullshit on my story and you checked it out, ended up being true. but they told you it did not happin)

As for Arlington, I have yet to meet anyone there that I would call savvy, the fact that I cant load my mags from the back bench kinda pisses me off, and that I cant get a working staple gun for my targets pretty much sealed their fate....

That being said, Im thinking about heading Arlington friday morning if anyone wants to show up.

Check out this psycho: I went to Butch's on Aurora Ave. and paid them to order an L1A1 for me, after waiting for months I finally went in and said just give me the CETME on the rack there instead, which was fine with them since it had been there for quite a while. The CETME was one hundred bucks less than L1A1 I had already paid for. The guy starts writing up the receipt while going through the store and piling up a bunch of other shit on the counter, mags, ammo etc. I asked what he was doing and he told that he was making up the hundred dollar differance by adding on all this other stuff without even asking me what I wanted to do with MY hundred bucks. I told him that I didn't really want him picking things out for me and he totally went nuts screaming "what are you gonna do without ammo M@#@##$ F$$#@ throw rocks" while screaming at me he was swinging a bag of ammo around and the bag broke open and shells were flying all over the room, someone else finally came over to finish the deal. I was so shocked I didn't even know what to do so I signed the papers and left with my new gun and other stuff. To make matters worse I paid $26 for the CETME mags which are less than half that elsewhere and one of them was not a CETME mag at all. I have not been in a gun shop since, I buy everything here on the EE or at Gunbroker.

Here is another tid bit for you to chew on about Kesselrings.

I have sworn up and down I would not return, but like a wife in an abusive relationship...I just keep going back, even after I have written them off time and time again.

About a week ago, one of my rare opportunities for a day to the range popped up out of the blue. I had about 2 hours to get my stuff ready. Murphy's law reared it's ugly head, and my extra USP 9mm Compact magazines are no where to be found.

I dug everywhere - no luck. My shooting days are far and few between right now, and I treat them like a vacation to the Moon, making sure I have everything I need.

I suddenly found myself needing at least two extra 13rd mags - and no time to order them from someone on the E&E.

So, with my head dropped in embarrassment...I went limping back to them with my tail between my legs.

NOW...you would think this could not be too hard to screw up...

I wait the customary 15 - 20 minutes in line (which I understand and have no problem with if they are busy). After reading the "polite" little sign on their book rack stating "not to read the books unless you are going to buy one" for just a bit too long, I see Kesselring Jr. point his magic finger at me and actually ask if I needed help (which was weird in it's self, as he never raised his eyes or head from the invoice he was writing - I think they just point and let the customers figure out who is next)

I ask him if he has any HK USP Compact 9mm 13rd magazines? He answers "Yeah".
"I would like to buy two please, how much are they?"
"Don’t know, just a minute" and then grumbled something under his breath.

He wandered around a pile of cardboard boxes picking at it like a fruit bin for a couple minutes getting redder faced by the second. He picked out a couple mags and set them on the counter. I politely said that they were the wrong mags.

He then asked if I had my gun with me? I answered that I did, but it was in my concealed holster loaded. I asked him if he would like me to go out to my car and unload & clear it first. This is where I was REALLY surprised....he just said "No" and stuck his hand out for the gun!

So, I carefully de-holstered, double checked the safety, and started to set it on the counter with the muzzle pointing in the safest direction I could determine (away from everyone else, towards the brick wall to the South).

About half way through the action of attempting to place the gun safely on the counter, he reaches out and takes the pistol from my hand. In the act of doing this he swept me, and about 4 other customers with the barrel !!! (I readily admit this was my fault - I should have insisted to return with a clear weapon )

I was so surprised, I actually tried to quickly duck out of the way in a somewhat instinctual attempt to get my body in a safer place! He looked at me like I had insulted him for jumping out of the way (the other customers did too) and did the "Spock Eyebrow " thing and then walked off.

I was still dumbfounded by the barrel sweep and deeply disappointed by my decision to not clear the gun when K Jr. returned and told me that the employees had not priced any of the mags yet.

I smiled politely, and before I could say a thing he simply said, “ You will have to come back some other time...I do not have time to look the prices up” , sat my loaded gun down on the counter, and then turned away and pointed his finger into the line once more. No "I'm sorry".....nothing.

Damn......

chrst, you sound like an abused wife too.

Haven't taken any retention classes have ya? Fastest way I've found to teach others proper muzzle control is to rip the pistol out of their hands breaking a finger or two in the process. works surprisingly well.

LOL....you have a point there .

As for the retention classes - you are right on the number...I have not been able to take a class yet.

These gun shop A-holes need to understand what customer service means while we need to stop rewarding there shitty behavior with our money. I have called or E-mailed many people all over the country with questions about stuff they are selling here on ARF, gunbroker etc. and every one of them has been polite and helpful, but most of my gun shop experiances has been very unpleasant.
