First, all surgeons do good job.
Words of mouth will give you some ideas where to go, but you also need to check out yourselves.
You can go there on the day of surgery to see/watch how the staff and surgeon do on that day:
1. Do they take their time or they rush their patients like cattle? If they have a lot of patients on the surgery day and rush the patients in and out of surgery, then be careful. Mistakes can and will be made when they are in the rush.
2. How do they treat the patients, pre-and post-op? Some surgeons will operate anyone under the sun from dry eye patient to very high Rx patient. Stay away from these. If you have a problem, how far the surgeon and his staff willing to go to take care of your problem, or they just take care superficially? If you have a chance, talk with their problem patients because this will give you an idea how far the surgeon and his staff are willing to help.
Boothe is known to over-book and one of my patients felt like “cattle” on the day of surgery. He’s a good surgeon and very experience. If you decide to go to him, schedule the very first surgery of the day.
No matter who you decide, do your homework.
As far as either LASIK or PRK, surgeon is comfortable on what he/she does best, and both procedures are good. Both have drawbacks. The reason that LASIK more popular is due to quicker healing time, less discomfort. Google for more info.
