I am looking for some land in Virginia, within 2-3 hours from the Tidewater region but secluded enough that it can be used for hunting, shooting, etc. Any advice on where, what kind of prices?

Southwest Va....Giles, Russel or something in that region. I'm doing the same thing. I would like mine on a mountain with the state line running through it. That narrows my search down a little.

Russell isn't 2-3 hours from the tidewater area. More like 6 hours from the tidewater area.

On the edge of your preferred area, but look for something in the Bedford/Campbell area. Around Alta Vista.

2- 3 hours from Tidewater (AKA Hampton Roads) on 1-64 will put you just the other side of Charlottesville near Waynesboro. Probably will find better land values looking more southernly toward Danville and Campbell, Prince Edward or Halifax Co's.

Me and a buddy tried this about five years ago. We were looking for about 40 acres.
Had to have water and trees and varied terrain. Couldnt find anything within 3 hours of norfolk.
Farther north like waynesboro 4 hours away the price was too high, unless it was on the side of a mountain. Lot of stuff on the SIDE of the mountain for sale.

We did find one site for but it was over 6 hours away, too far.

I'd look into Fluvanna County. Just south of Charlottesville. Or like others have mentioned around the Waynesboro area. Anywhere around charlottesville is beautiful.
