that Dick's Sporting Goods has Wolf .223 55gr FMJ on sale for $6.98 a box. That's the cheapest I've seen it in a while.

EGADSSS thats $350 a case. Why would you do that. Why dont people order ammo off the internet? You can get a case of 62 grain brown bear for $240 bucks right now? $10-$15 delivery and you still have saved almost a $100. Not knocking you but that is the price I pay for brass case good ammo.

Yes that is a better deal. I only wish I could afford to spend a couple hundred or so on a case and get the savings. I know I pay more in the long run but I can just afford to buy a little here and there right now.

Save up for three months?

ETA: hell, I've been saving up for three years, and just bought reloading components instead.

I keep telling myself that before I go plop down another $150 for 10 boxes of ammo at Walmart, I should instead spend that money on a Lee Pro1000 in the same caliber. Yup, that's what I keep telling myself as I stack up another 10 boxes of ammo on my arsenal's shelves.

For less than $200, I bought everything I need to load 1000 rounds of FMJ 9mm, except the brass (I already have) and the press (I already have).

Lee dies: $27
1000 rounds worth of plastic boxes: $23
1000 bullets: $90
1000 primers: $30
1 lb AA #5: $20

From what I've read, I'd stay the heck away from the Pro1000. Stay with a single stage, or go with the Load Master.

This is currently my favorite "cheap" ammo, 117/500 at AIM right now.

I don’t want to start a whole steel case verses brass case. Wolf lacquer vs Polymer discussion but the simple math is one of my guns has eaten through over 5k of the brown bear stuff. Every one of my guns eats it up. The accuracy is on the level of bargin brass cased stuff. Its even the fabled crappy lacquer case yada yada yada. Now I know some people will say wait until you heat it up in a carbine class et cetera. The one gun that has eaten so much of that stuff has had mag dump after mag dump through it. Not saying it works for everyone but it was worked well for me. Planning on going to a couple carbine courses in 2010 so I will let you know if I still have such a high opinion then.
