Thought you guys might enjoy some of our pics.  Skipped out on the goose hunting and pit shooting but it was worth it I think.

Good eye.

Lower Taquamenan falls, Whitefish point beach, and  Miner's beach on the Pic'd rocks shoreline.

We had a riot.  I havent been to the U.P. in 13 years and the Emperor has never been there so it was like going back for the first time ever for both of us.  We camped, hiked, and ate enough pasties to feed a small african village.  Good trip.

My little bavarian gundog even got to fire the 6lb. cannon at Fort Michillimackinac.....

Hunting bare or bear? Are you one of those "closet flashers" Lumpy, or a manly man hunting potentially dangerous game? Tell the truth...we can handle it.

Whereabouts in the U.P. do you hunt Lump?  Dont you go up around Newberry?  If you'd have said something I could have taken some bait up for you while I was there.  Or is your cousin taking care of that?

BTW....Lumpy, that is the fattest rottweiller I've ever seen.

I'm headed to da U.P. too eh.  Second honeymoon for me & Mrs. SouthHoof.  We'll be visting friends in White Pine, hiking to Lake of the Clouds.  Then on tour to the Keewenaw.

I intend on doing some recon work at deer camp to see if the wolves have left anything to hunt this year

I was in the UP two weekends ago. Spent a night at Mackinac Island, one in Paradise and two in Grand Marais. It was my first time to the UP and was pretty fun. I might just have to post some pics later.

This was my tour de UP before I move back south.

Missed this before.  Thanks Graywolf.  He's the one Lumpy and I were joking about as far as goose hunting.  He's not so hot in the water, but he'd make a good field retriever.

Mrs. SouthHoof & I just returned from our second honeymoon tour of da U.P. eh.

We did stop by TQ falls then headed cross country to the west & came out in Munising.  We camped west of MQT then headed to the Keewenaw.  Here is the park along Superior just west of Brockway MT. drive.

Everyone has seen this lake on the calendars

We spent 3 days at the Ontonogon county deer camp building cement pilers to level the cabin.  It's back on a solid footing now.

This is the gorge west of camp on the Big Iron River.  That is about a 200' drop over the side.

Salmon are already in the river for those who care to know.

Here Mrs.SouthHoof displays an 1870's vintage hand built precussion shotgun.  Nothing tactical about that one as it is nearly 6 feet long.  It still functions, one of the guys from camp fired it last year.

We strolled into the Lac Veux Desert casino at Watersmeet with the intention of making our usual deposit but I managed to hit a slot for $750.  I'm spending the $$$ appropriately, I placed an order with ADCO

If you've not seen Bond Falls take the time to do so. It is the most beautiful falls in all of Michigan.  Mrs.SouthHoof poses nicely at the flowage just above the main falls.

We did a bit of driving on the two tracks & forestry roads.  I'm reconsidering a land purchase out in the Dakotas.  I'll likely spend my money on ground in Ontongon county instead.

eta:  I guy I know shot a big bear near White Pine.  Live weight was 691 lbs, dressed it tipped the scales at 643lbs.  He and a sponsor are getting a full body mount.
