Say a prayer for these poor people.  My wife and I watched this live tonite on the news and it was hard to keep watching at times.  Homes, cars and people were swept away like they were toy soldiers on a cardboard battlefied.  Truly horrible.

I am for sending help (not money) for a rescue effort. The Japanese are a proud people and I doubt they will accept a lot of outside aid. I am on the other hand, tired of hearing about Libya. We should butt out and mind our own business. Let France stick their nose in Libya's internal affairs.

I feel bad for the people that lost everything. Sure the US can not continue to be the one helping everybody but I think we should help countries like Japan rather than some others that do not deserve our help.

I mostly agree with beltfed on this, not entirely because i can't stand news any more and i turn it off after watching 5min, same thing over and over.  SURE THIS IS HORRIBLE!  No one is saying it isn't, but i don't think our gov should send aid, if we had a major earthquake would they send aid?  !@#$ NO!  America's officials have decided we need to help everyone, that's why we send BILLIONS of dollars over sea that we don't have.... and what do we get in return?  NOT A DAMN THING!  instead we have run manufacturing into the ground just so we can BUY from other countries and make them happy, i say !@#$'em all until we can get our OWN house in order.  What has happened to Japan is tragic, however if you have a gunshot wound and arterial spray hemorrhaging out your life blood (money) out onto the floor, you don't run to an ally to patch them up first, your not supposed to try and help others until you stop your own bleeding.  HOW can we possibly be expected to help others if we can't help ourselves.  

Of course, what i say really doesn't matter any more, it is just a matter of time until the SHTF here.  What sort of SHTF will come first... i have no idea, but it won't be good, i.e. new madrid fault, obama zombies, WWIII, china no longer funding bonds, great depression, pick your poison, it will all go down the same.

now dont you dare read anything about being unpatriotic into this, i love every American soldier, and i wished to God i could be one (read physical disability) and i praise and support everything they do, but this has NOTHING to do with them.  We are the greatest county on the planet, and we are running as fast as we possibly can to try and end that, and it pisses me off.

They are one of our largest trading partners and own the second highest total of our debt.  We have bases all over their country and their citizens pay taxes for us to have said bases.  Yep, good point guys, totally should just say fuck off.  

I used to live in Tokyo and the people were wonderful to me.  World War II happened fucking 65+ yrs ago, the world has changed!

It's a sad situation indeed, but they'll pull through.

Even though our people donate the most from our own pockets, the rest of the world still thinks we don't give enough.  They smile as they take our money and they scream like teenagers when we turn the money faucet off.

This will be another such example.  We will donate from our own accounts.  Then our .gov will donate with our tax dollars.  Our military will be involved to assist in the stabilization efforts, and we won't be compensated for what THAT will cost either.

All the while our countrymen and women die on foreign soils trying to stop those abusing their power.


What do we have to show for it after more than 100yrs of saving the world from themselves?

We're broke and we owe those who we have saved a lot of money.

You know, they are just people.  They are a strong a country and most likely won't need much help.  We are going to send money that we don't have anyway.  I would rather send it to an ally than an enemy.   Right now, they are ally's.
I don't feel bad for governments and stupid things they do.  I do feel bad for the people.  Many of them are still wondering what happened.  The day I stop caring about other people (the little guy) will be a sad day.  JMHO.

I heard today that the United States is sending another aircraft carrier (one is already there)  and some Search & Rescue teams to Japan to help. No bleeding heart liberals singing "Save the World" and raising money for the disaster relief  effort so Japan must not be on the approved liberal list of nations.

Of course their not, they are not socialist or communist, they are capitalist.  Liberals want to knock us down a few notches, this plan more than likely includes the Japanese as they are a pretty wealthy country with a high standard of living.  Japan doesn't meat the Progressive's bleeding heart litmus test.  



WWII was two generations ago.  Most of the people that we fought in that war are dead and buried, there is no reason to be hater to their grandchildren.  We helped these people rebuild their nation literally from the rubble of our bombs.  They are one of our closest allies and have been for more than 20 years.  I see no difference in our relationship Japan and Germany.  The foreign aid that I detest is not the same as helping an ally that is overwhelmed with a diaster they will be recovering from for decades.

I'm an American, and my Brother and I were born in Japan.  I take offense anytime anyone shows thier ignorance, especially when someone wants attack or put down another to make themselves feel as if they are "something" or "someone".

You have shown your ignorance here more than once, and I guess you're one individual that will never change.  I'm glad we only have contact through a forum, as I'm sure if I ever met you, I'd probably do something to land myself in jail.  My Brother is twice the man you are, I'm confident of that!  He has been suspended from ARFCOM because he called you a "dumb ass" (personal attack/forum rules), but you bring that out in people.  He usually doesn't let people bother him, and will usually look the other way,  but you've managed to get to him.  He has served our great Country as a member of the Unitited States Army, he served in the Infantry in Iraq, and we are half Japanese, so yes! You've managed to offened him/us!
