I looked a bit but didn't see anything and couldn't figure out how to use the search function for the HTNE section.  Has there ever been a picture thread for Ban-Compliant ARs?

Yuk it up all you want but I'd like to see what other guys have done with their ban compliant rigs.  There are tons of options that have only come out in the last few years.  Some folks in AWB states only ever see the plain jane ARs on the shelf at their local dealer.  They might like to see what's possible too.  After dabling in prebans, I have come to the conclusion that unless I plan on mounting a suppressor, they are not really worth the $200-$400 premium. I would rather spend that money on other parts of the rifle.  .

I have half of a post-ban DPMS in the works with no plans to complete, if for no other reason than it pissing off Carolyn McCarthy I will finish building by second pre-ban first.  The big middle finger to the illegal establishment is well worth the cost to me.

You can hang all the furniture you want on a post ban ar in CT so long as its not a collapsible stock, flash hider, bayonet mount, or a grenade launcher. I've seen Houge grips, rails with lights and forward grips on a few post bans at Highrock in the past. Pictures are nice but take a run up to Highrock or other EBR friendly ranges to see what others are hanging on their post ban EBR's.

Might as well post a picture since the question was asked. The only thing as of now on mine are optics.

These pictures are a couple of years old.  Only change is a Larue mount for the EOTech.

I will be ditching the forward grip in favor of a Magpul AFG.

Yes, I pinned them myself.

But i now have a preban so I can finally run a CTR unpinned.

My 1st AR.  I am going to be switching out this upper and handguards for a BCM 20" A4 in the next few months.  The current upper will revert back to A2 handguards and become a dedicated .22LR host since it has a 1:12 twist FN barrel, which is supposed to be better than 1:9 or 1:7 for adapted barrels.

I don't mind post-ban rifles so much, but a post-ban carbine would drive me bonkers with the limitations on features.

btw, this thread is a cool idea!

Good question, but I lost the Bushmaster preban in a tragic boating accident shortly after that picture was taken.

It probably jumped overboard from the shame of having to wear a fake ACOG.

I was wondering how the MB556k would look on the lightweight 14.5".

You have the rifle I would have built if I had several hundred more dollars to spend.  I ended up going with the MOE mid-length handguards and a Battlecomp 1.5.  It gets pinned this week so pics should be up before the weekend.

PWS Comp/brake jammie with a 20" barrel and long ass rail like the 13.2"  Larue joint and a low profile gas block by DD or Vltor.  Stock would be an A2 or another Vltor Rifle Modstock with a clubfoot in A2 length.  I got a grip of Stag upper and lower recievers that i want to build up.

That sounds about right.  If I get creative instead of just ordering an A4 upper, I'm thinking something like this but with a fixed ACE stock and a set of DD irons.

cool thread
one of mine, simple carbine..this was taken in GA with high a cap mag.

my neutered BCM A4, I put a cav comp on because it resembles the A2 and I just could'nt justify a FCS556. based on cost

the ban is stupid, but I relly like these guns, you miss an adjustable stock for sure, but I'm tall and the A2 stock works just fine for me.
my SCM 556 wanted to play too!!!

Here's a repost of some of my rifles from another forum.  All you really have to do is be creative.  In the spirit of full disclosure, I know some industry people that have been very generous to me.  But you CT guys can reap the benefits as well.

On the OBR which was the first in state, Mark LaRue made the jig to hold the SF MB in place.  Mark welded it perfectly.  If you guys want a great 7.62 rifle, LT can make you one.

The Colt MT6400c is modded exactly the way I dreamed about in waiting three freaking years for Colt to sell them in CT again.  I had the idea of making a KAC MRE type rail, only using a LaRue rail.  I designed it and JOJO's made it.  My favorite carbine ever........until

I would think it might be the only CT legal SR-15E3 around.  I hope not.  You guys deserve to try one of these.

The point for me is that you can be creative and enjoy some really good gear, AWB or not.  I have two registered pre bans from 94. I've gotten rid of 14 pre ban PWA lowers over the past few years.  I was tired of paying a premium/being screwed just to have a folding stock.  Unless you have suppressors, why bother?  Muzzle brakes are everywhere, who needs a bayonet lug.  Stock adjustment is nice if you train with armor.  I don't so my stocks are pinned where I want them.  I can't remember adjusting one except to put it in the safe.  And factory rifles are great in that they are warranteed and for the most part run much better than a lot of the pre ban builds I've seen

But, I never stand between a man, his money and his fun.  Whatever you like, enjoy yourself.

––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––

One of the things I wanted to try was making a 7.62 battle rifle.  I have a LT OBR.  An absolutely awesome rifle.  The past three times I have gone to the range, it has been the only rifle I took, which for me is saying something. :)  It is supremely accurate, digests everything I run through it and it just a pleasure to shoot.  Honestly, if anyone needed a 7.62 tactical rifle, I can't think of any bolt action to at least 600m that could possibly be better.  At least not for anywhere near the money.

But I digress.  The OBR is heavy, for sure.  To try and make it somewhat more handy, I removed the PRS stock and the rail sections.  The scope came off and a M4S went on.  I know the T-1 would be even lighter but I like M4s.  I found an A2 stock and grip set in MC.  I still have to attach a sling and mount up a light of some sort.  Seems pretty handy as is and feels well balanced.  I'll give it a try.  To tell you the truth, I like shooting the OBR so much the way it came, I'll probably convert it back if I ever get an SR-25 EMC.

The next two were no big deal.  I took my Colt MT6400 , removed the vert grip and used a pair of LT handstops I got for my birthday.  By placing one on the bottom and one on the left side, your hand sits in a pocket.  I can activate the "LAV" style light with my thumb.  Also, the custom KAC GB sight works unobstructed.  It takes off just a wee bit of weight too.  As you can see it is set up for a righty but I shot it "wronghanded" and it can be done if need be.

The last is pretty much the same set up but on my KAC SR-15 E3.  Took off the vert grip and added two KAC handstops, one on the bottom being modded and checkered.  Because the front sight flips up on the URX rail, I had to place the X300 at 3 o'clock instead.  You manipulate it with your forefinger easily.

I just finished this one today for a friend from scratch as per his specs...100% Commicut legal including pinning the stock and silver soldering the brake on to a BCM 14.5". He just got BRD today in fact...he needs to figure out what he is doing for adding a moon beam and a forward grip still(if any).

That in a midlength form, or a BCM M16A4 20" upper is going to be my next ban-compliant upper.  Just waiting to see if there are any BCM gift certs under the tree first.  I know that lean & mean is better, but I just like how a 20" shoots so much more.

How much did it cost for the bayo-lug hack and the brake pinned & weld?  I can't remember what it cost last time I had it done and can't find the receipt.  For some reason $75 sticks out in my head.
