A coworker today who i know is very into guns and so on, was telling me that he is understanding that the CT AWB law is going to end within a year. he in under the impression that if they cannot attatch the law to something else? it will sunset? sound right?

so i asked him flat out, if they cant attatch the bill to something within one year, there is no more crazy AWB law and i can run right out and buy a new Colt. He believes that you can.

I know hes not a jackass and isnt lying, so either he is correct, or he just got fed some bad info someplace. Im just wondering if its true, cause that would be awsome.

when i left CT a couple years ago i wrote letters to as many "reps" as i could letting them know that i was leaving as a result of their gun-repressive governance, and that they would see no more of my tax dollars.

may not mean much, but i figured i'd make the gesture anyhow.

No. It won't end. The antis have the votes. The best we can do (and we have done successfully for the past ten years) is prevent it from getting worse. And in this regard, we've fared much better than CA and MA, NJ, NY ,etc.

Expect LONG GUN registration to be the hot ticket item this year. No more unreported, second hand long gun transfers; and mandatory reporting of stolen or lost firearms within a tight window period.

they can tighten their grip, ill just slide out and goto a place where people are more friendly someday. I just wish one day, all these liberal cry babies who dont even understand what they are voting on or affecting, have to stick their foot in their mouth. I hope one day they find themselves needing something they have banished. Karma will pay them back for their infringement on other (innocent) peoples rights.

Actually, redrumnine, sticking it out here and fighting them wears them down!!

CT Coalition of Sportsmen has been successful in beating back every new attempt since 1993
at more restrictive bans  - in a legislative environment filled with liberal, control freaks.

The antis introduced a .50BMG ban last year - CCS was so successful in getting gun owners to call
the governor's office the measure was pulled OFF the table!

We beat back a CA "phase 2" ban in 2001 that would have even banned mags over 10 rds and every rifle under the sun that resembled an AR, HK, FAL, AK or M-1A. Even the M-1 carbine and full stock
mini-14 was on that list!

We beat back a 1998 proposal that would have nullified carry permits into being practically useless.

We achieved a range protection bill that protects ranges from nuissance law suits over noise. Without it, EVERY outdoor range in CT would have been shut down.

We beat back proposals from the anti gunners that would have made PUBLIC the names and addresses of PERMIT HOLDERS (they basically wanted gun owners equated with sex offenders!!!)

Yes, we have a tough fight here, but we've been pretty darn successful considering what we're up against. We are more notably successful in CT than NY, NJ, MA, MD, IL and CA have been

I sometimes wish I could move but my roots are here, my family is here and they need me and the job I have pays much more here as it does in southern and western states.

The only thing I wish I had was a 500 yard or longer rifle range

Stick it out and fight the bastards! You get a good feeling when we beat them!

Another point we need to drive home is that the gun owners, collectors, shooters and hunters in CT
comprise that segment of the population that  provides the bulk of the tax base. It's OUR taxes on income, property and sales that keeps the gov't functioning, the roads paved and the entitlement programs to the non contributing segment of the population funded. We're also the SAME people who
are responsible for nearly an absolute ZERO% of all crime in the state.

We're generally the people who MAKE the MONEY and bring home the bacon. Piss us off so that we
leave (and many of us already have - we're down to 7 congressional seats from 8 after the 2000 census).... and who will be left to pay for the illegal immigrant school and medical programs in Danbury?

Piss us off so that we leave and who will be left in the cities and towns to buy things and support the economy? ..... the gangsters??? the illegals???

The liberals here WANT illegal aliens, they WANT crime; they WANT mayhem  - - because it gives them the fuel they need for MORE CONTROL of people and their support base comes from those who don't pay the bills

I also agree with you. Im going to check into that web site and learn more about it. I just feel right now like its a losing battle no matter what. And add in all the snobby a-holes around CT and crappy attitudes, well, that just makes me want to get out and goto a state where people are generally happier. Not 100% rich and also a 100% miserable.

are there any clubs to join where we can run all the lousy assholes and liberal snobs out of the state as well ?

redrumnine you can contact CCS via the site to be included on the e-mail distribution. I would include your NRA membership number because a lot of antis have been getting our e-mail alerts to act
on upcoming legislation.

CCS e-mail alerts are the BEST way to find out what's happening and when on gun issues

re: clubs to join to run the A-holes out - #1 is be active in your local state rep and senate district election campaigns and support the pro gun candidate(s)

#2 is Join CCS for CT issues

#3 Join the NRA for National issues

#4 Start a calling tree among your shooting buddies, pro gun friends, pro gun family members, etc.

#5 when an anti gun bill is revealed CALL your rep, CALL your senator and CALL the Governor's office

DO NOT E-MAIL - they get ignored. Writing is ok for long term views but it is PHONE CALLING that actually impacts the office(s) of your elected officials.

When the phone rings they MUST answer. They don't need to stay on long, just "Name, district and I am opposed to bill # such adn such, thank you" Get three of your pro gun friends to call and they should each have three of their contacts call, etc.

When staffers are swamped with these brief calls, they can't get their other work done. This in turn gets noticed by the legislative office manager - who in turn tells the legislator or his/her chief aide that
the issue at hand is a hot potato and probably should get  dropped.

People don't call their reps when they're happy; they call when they're PISSED and reps know this.

This is how to kill an anti gun bill

Case in point: last year's .50 ban

#6 form a core of activists at your local gun club or range. Out of 100 members, you will get five who actually give a shit and will do something. This is normal. If every club had five members on all of these bills,  a lot can happen in our favor

#7 set aside one personal day or floating holiday if possible to be ready to appear at the legislative
office building in Hartford to testify for three minutes at a public hearing. This is also very effective

Case in point: the 2001 "Gun Safety Initiative" that would have given us a CA part 2 ban with no hi caps and no post ban clone anythings. We packed the halls with so many people and outnumbered
the antis at least 10 to 1 that the end result was the bill was passed with out any "teeth" (meaning the guns and mag ban were removed from the bill language at eh 11th hour)

Yes, this bill passed, yes we're stuck with pinned brakes and fixed stocks and no bayo studs  HOWEVER we can still buy our clones and all the high cap mags we want.

So, to a significant degree  - our strategy works and we are a thorn in their side and they know we can beat back a lot of crap they throw at us.

So, keep the faith and hang in there and join the CCS team!

Don't forget our own American Revolution.....

Half the population was indifferent

One third were tories who supported the British

One FIFTH supported the Revolution

15-18% of the population PARTICIPATED in the Revolution

That's 80% who did not support OUR Revolution, the birth of OUR Country and more people who actually opposed it than there were who supported it

I'm joining the CSS team once I get $400.  Few more paychecks and another marlin will set me in the clear to join.  Hopefully in two months at MOST i'll be able to join.  I really want to support the cause, mine as well right.
