I'm moving to Christiansburg on Saturday and I can't move my Cox down there because they don't have Cox. There is no FIOS in the neighborhood and the Comcast site says they don't have high speed internet at the address. I play games online on my PS3 and the PO's verizon wireless hub took about 45 seconds to change webpages. So, does high speed internet exist there? Can anyone recommend a provider?

Looks like you'll be going through withdrawals.

I moved to Louisa County in the summer (from Fairfax County), and ended up choosing Verizon Wireless Broadband.

I don't even TRY to watch videos anymore...they all look like Max Headroom...but satellite sux even more.

Check into nrvunwired.net   I have a drop to the FD and it works pretty well.  Speeds are pretty decent.  The only problem is when there is a power outage or we get a lot of ice.  The antennas can freeze over and stop working.  You will probably have better service as I am on the fringe of their area.   We had no choice.  Comcast would not run a line, and Verizon wanted $10k to put a line in.  Hughes and other sat services were not even considered due to their speeds being so slow.

I think when I lived in Christiansburg my landlord had Verizon with wifi. I watched HULU and played COD4 with minimal problems. I think the few problems I did have were because my landlord put the wifi router downstairs while I was upstairs. You may see if Comcast offers service there. I'm getting a good military discount and have never lost connection. Speeds are good too. I'll have one computer playing a game, the TV playing something on Netflix and the laptop surfing the web at the same time and don't notice any difference.

I'm going to be living next to the mall so I would think they would offer good internet. Comcast said they didn't offer service at the address, but then I called back and they said they did. The number for Comcast sends me to India or some place because the 3 people I talked to had heavy Indian accents. They really had no clue and kept trying to sell me a $160 service...no thanks. Comcast looks like the way to go but I'm going to wait until I get there. The Radford Arsenal is shutting down for a week after xmas so I should have ample time to get service then.

I've never talked to anyone other than an American when calling Comcast but getting someone frind Inia doesn't surprise me. I will say I hate calling them. Takes forever to get a hold of an actual person. They do have a store front in Blacksburg across the street from Kroger on S. Main.

You'd think with Tech right here as well as Radford and the community college there would be better (more) options.
