Whats the best way to do this ? Household policy or specialist ?

Like most shooters I've quite quite a sum 'invested' in precious metal and want to ensure that they're covered should something happen......

Household policy.
I'm insured for up to about 15,000. I thoink that was their max.
Make sure though that they will insure firearms, but with that said, most companies will just treat them like any other contents

yep, my contents cover does include firearms up to £12500
I thought in the beginning I should tell them but they didn't seem to bothered.

Cheers guys, I'll check it out. Did you have to provide them with an itemised list ?

no, as I said they weren't all that interested.
I did say however that they were kept in a Police approved safe, but they really were not interested it seemed.

I insured all of my firearm's once, the price was stupid so when it came up for renewal I binned it. That was before the €uro ripp off's started, now I have the minimum of insurance possible for everything. I even streamlined my life assurance, the insurance companie's here in Germany are very expensive, and know every rule in the book to avoid paying out on a claim. It does help when they get to make and change the rules as & when they want.

I know peep's here that are insured up to the hilt, never make any claim's and moan about where their money go to every month.

Got all my firearms and accessories etc on the house insurance cost £198 for £35,000 cover. Tried one of the specialist gun insurers and they wanted over over £1000 a year. Current insurers (AON) don't want any info regarding the firearms etc and will replace old/damaged etc for new whether at home or while in use; all they insist on is that the house has a redcare alarm system, which is what our local plods insisted due to amount of firearms and ammo I hold anyhow.
