THEY'RE IN! Give Ron a call to schedule your paperwork and pickup!!

** The order for 14 receivers was placed this morning, 1/30, however the FFL that RRA had on file was not current, so it is being mailed in now since they do not accept faxed FFLs. I will keep everyone posted when I hear the receivers are on the way to the FFL, or in his hand. See most recent edit at the bottom of this post for contact info, info he needs to process your paperwork, and funds information. **

I need another AR like I need a hole in the head, but at $90 each, I'm looking at these RRA stripped lowers and having a hard time not buying some. Thing is, we need to buy 5 to get the $90 price on them. Is anyone else interested in going in on this with me? I want two of the stripped lowers, and I know a dealer who can do the transfers for us in Yorkville, IL. Let me know what you guys think. With the Dems taking over and all the talk of the "assault weapons" ban coming back, I'm thinking it might be a good idea to put some of these away for a rainy day.

EDIT: My dealer called RRA today and here's the scoop. After tax, and shipping, it will come out to $90/stripped receiver (if more people order, it may go up to $91 or $92 because of the sales tax). He is NOT making any money on the receivers, but he is going to have to charge each of us his standard $25 transfer fee. However, if you buy more than one receiver, you only have to pay one $25 transfer fee so it's still a great deal. So for $115, you have a stripped RRA out the door, or 2 for $205. A pretty good deal for RRA lowers.

So far, for the stripped receiver buy, I have:

FAL (me): 2
codycoyote: 1
Slim30: 1
Mikey250r: 1
hman710: 1
PM4E: 2
Ford-Freak: 1
Automatic800: 2
sleepercaprice1: 1
bssrf4: 2

If you want to confirm for some receivers, post in the thread and I will edit this post to add you in. As far as funds go, you can pay him when you pick up the lower(s) and do your paperwork. Once he places the order on 1/30, I will give everyone his contact info and I will post here when the lowers are in his hand.

Most Recent EDIT: If you want to call the FFL to get your paperwork started, his name is Ron DuBrock, 630-553-0648. He will need your FOID card number, expiration date, correct full spelling of your name, and your date of birth to call in your paperwork. Also tell him how many receivers you ordered. You will pay him by cash or check when you pick up the receivers and do your paperwork.

Thanks,
Jason

I would like another one as well but I am way up north in Gurnee though. How to do and how much for the transfer?

I suppose I could get it at an upcoming blastfest or Kane Co. show maybe. I'm in no hurry.

Not for nothing, but RRA is an Illinois manufacturer. Wonder what chances are they'll do something direct for us locals especially considering the pending AWB in the state house. Anyone have a contact there? I suppose even if we did set something up with them, we'd have to go to Colona to pick them up

I can ask the head armorer next weekend and see what kind of quantity discount we could get.

Steve/RRAMODERATOR in their Industry forum here might be able to help, too.

Good idea WIZZO...can you ask in the RRA forum? Getting it directly from them would be cool, too.

My dealer in Yorkville does transfers for $25...so if I buy 3 lowers, he'll only charge me $25 total, as an example. If anyone has a dealer in the burbs who will do it cheaper, I'm certainly open to that as well.

Check HERE for the thread in RRA's industry section.

If I didn't emphasize anything that you guys are wondering about, feel free to chime in.

If RRA won't deal with us directly, I know the head armorer probably will. He runs his own home-run gunshop specializing in, this is gonna be a shocker, AR's

Looks like our order would have to be in by the end of January...I sent an email to my dealer to see if he'll contact RRA and do the transfers for us. So who all wants in on this? Speak up! Come on, I know you guys want one! Only thing is, you may have to drive out to Yorkville to pick them up. It's just outside Oswego, south of Aurora.

It just means that I won't be eating lunch for a month.

Count me in for one ! Sounds like a good project to throw the overtime money at. Yorkville will not be a problem. Let us know about how to contact the FFL to make it final.

Bump for updates...I spoke to the FFL dealer doing the transfers for us, and he will place the order on Monday, 1/30, so get your name on the list before then. See the original post for updates.

Since I'm not really sure, just cross my name off.

I don't think I can come up with the cash that soon.

I will have to bail.

While I would love to buy for that price I wont be seeing Yorkville this year.

Thanks for the chance.

Yorkville isn't far from me.
Thanks for doin' the legwork on this.

I'm good for 1 also. Yorkville isn't too bad for me. How do we handle the money part of the deal? Thanks
Link Posted: 1/28/2006 7:27:28 PM EDT
So your FFL will only charge $25 total for the transfer fees regardless of how many lowers we buy? Also, does RRA have these in stock and ready to ship? How would the money part of this deal be managed?
Sorry for all the questions and thanks in advance.

Please read the original post...I believe all your questions will be answered except the "in stock" question. Yes, $25 for a transfer, regardless of number. I have not spoken to RRA so I'm not sure if they have them in stock. It is a special they are running, so there may be a bit of a wait if they run out. I have nothing to do with the $$ part so that is between you and the FFL, and you can pay when you pick it up and do your paperwork. My only involvement in this was to get enough interest so we got at least 5 lowers so I could get a couple while they're on sale.

Everyone - Last day to get your name on the list if you're interested.

I'll take 2. At $205 this deal can't be beat. Thanks for doing the leg work FAL.
Link Posted: 1/29/2006 3:18:08 PM EDT
I forgot to mention that I checked the RRA page and it says that stripped lowers are in stock ready to ship.

FAL, Thanks for doing the deal. I tried to get in touch with Ron today. He must be at work. I'll keep trying. Thanks again, Bill

Yeah, Ron works nights, I believe, so early morning is the best time to catch him at home, or late afternoon. If you leave a number on his machine, or with his wife, he will call you back. Just tell him you're a participant in the RRA stripped receiver group buy. Enjoy...

I spoke with Ron (the FFL in Yorkville) a few minutes ago. He's a really friendly, agreeable guy.
He told me that the lowers were on backorder with RRA. We are on a list and will receive them when available. Ron took my FOID info for processing. He said he will call me when he has more delivery info.

Ron, the FFL, spoke with RRA today and was told the receivers are about 2 weeks away from shipping. Just wanted to provide everyone with an update. Thanks!

I'm not real close, but roughly, near I55 and Rt83.
I'm familiar with the Yorkville area from when I ran the IDPA shoots at Howell Shooting Club. Howell is just southwest of Oswego.

I'm near I-355 and Roosevelt in Lombard. Yorkville is only about 30-45min from me.
