I talked to Kevin the gunsmith frrom Ole's gun shop in salem about building a 300 whisper upper for me. I baught an upper and put down a deposit on the work. I ordered some dies from midway and purchased some once fired LC .556 brass. ( I first tried forming it from 221 fireball but the failure rate was way to high) so I picked up a mini chop saw from harbor freight and went to work making brass, loading ammo and waiting....Kevin called and I picked up the upper last week.  the thing was accurate hell but would not feed, Kevin worked very hard and and we both searched for answers on the web....Well I just came home from shooting this eve and he has done one hell of a job. The rifle shoots and functions like a dream!
Redding two die set  77.95
Once fired LC .556 brass $37.00
Having a gunsmith who knows his stufff anjd is dedicated to his craft PRICELESS!

Yeah, I saw that method shown on another forum.  I thought it was a neat idea and I bought one.  If you are liking yours, hooray for you, - but I must have gotten a lemon.  Actually it was the blades that were garbage.  They were exceedingly dull - I could not even saw through one 223 case!  I bought a 3 pack of extra blades and they were not much better.

So...

I say pics or

Too bad I bought mine online, otherwise I would have taken it back.  I wanted to return it, but I would have had to mail them a letter via the post office asking for a return authorization, then I would have to ship it back to them at my expense.  I just didn't want to go to the hassle.  I ended up retrofitting an abrasive cut off wheel (originally meant for a muffler pipe cutter) and so now it's a mini chop saw for ferrous materials.

We opened the gas port to .116" , I took a rifle buffer and pulled the weights from inside to make its weight = to a carbine buffer +/_ 1350gr and use a rifle spring,   Feeds like a dream!!
