HI all i have been a semi lurker for a bit here. I want to make it to one of the shoots, man it looks like a bunch of fun! The only thing is... i dont have a semi auto rifle other then (sks).
I am saving up extra cash for something, but its slow going due to most all funds are being used on growing our winery. Thus im not in a rush to get something so winery first, fun second for now.
OK here is what im thinking 1) wait for next gen rifle .. scar, masada, or other? 2) just get an AR i wont be sorry?
I don't NEED to have a rifle in 7. 62 x 39 but i like the round. (is .223 or 7.62 cheaper to reload?)

Side note: anyone know about the XCR?

Thank you in advance for any info, oh also sorry for spealling and tpyeos also.

The spell checker will work for you.

762X39 costs me about 27 cents to reload.

The 223 batch (1000) rounds I am loading now cost me 18 cents a round.

If you have the time to reload buy the AR if not an AK is cheaper to shoot. (right now)

Get an AR15 first, everyone should have at least one of them.

The XCR is also a real nice gun, but more expensive.

If you have $2K the new AUG clones look like real nice guns too.

OK you want a kick ass it is the AR. AK's arent accurate enough to kick ass without shooting the whole mag.

Come to a shoot and shoot both, then decide.

I have several of both, I'll be the guy shooting the 10/22

I'll let you shoot my Saiga .308 (AK) but that's not really a fair comparison against an AR-15 for either side.

FWIW you don't need to have an AR to come to a HTF shoot. Bring some various caliber ammo and you would likely find plenty of folks who would let you try out different guns too. I have a Vector V53 you are welcome to run some rounds through if you come to the LCR shoot (and if I make it for sure).

I might of confused a few with the 7.62 sorry. No AK for now, the reason i said 7.62 is it look as if the scar and xcr will be available in that. ( note my collection will not be complete with out an AK )

I would also say get an AK NOW...

The AR is, IMHO a better rifle, but the AK is fun and ammo and accessories are still both very affordable. Mine sees two or three times as much range time as the AR's, probably have a good 12-13k on my Romy kit gun

From the LCR  not really "Rules", more like "guidelines "

While not an official policy, we at LCR celebrate diversity. We don’t discriminate based on action, brand*, caliber, barrel length, stock color, national origin or manufacturer's oppressive system of government. We even tolerate Oregonians and Coast Guardsmen, but we don’t like to talk about it. We do sort of draw the line at the U.N. though.

It's cool,,, run whut ya brung

That's why I don't reload it. I have the stuff to do it but since AK's are already junk I don't mind shooting steel cases out of it.
