I am looking to do some deer hunting this year and I am going to have to try WMA.  Can any one give me some input as to which ones might be better than others close to Atlanta?  Are any really crowded with hunters or really lacking in the deer department?  Are any just really great? Any input would be great.
Thanks Dana

I hunt Paulding Forest and Pine Log WMAs. Both are relatively close to Atlanta.

The bottom line is that there are not as many hunters in Georgia as there used to be. If you do some scouting, you should be able to take a decent deer. 4 years ago, I took a friend hunting with me at Paulding Forest and he shot a very nice 10-point typical.

There are also some state parks that are going to be open to hunt in this year.

Check the Hunting Regs, Subscribe to Georgia Outdoor News. You have to do your own DIRTYWORK to find a place to hunt on public land. A challange indeed! I got a Deer and aTurkey last year, tough as hell!

Check out Clarks Hill WMA.  It is just off of I-20 near Thomson.
