by suggestion from THIS THREAD i agreed to host a reloading clinic.  i want to be clear on this one from the start.  i didn't initiate this with the intention of showing everyone how to do it...  the fact is while i'm pretty handy at precision rifle reloading, i'm really looking forward to learning about the balance of reloading...  things like progressive presses, techniques, etc. are all things i'm lacking.  so i agreed to host the event so we had somewhere to go and meet.

sounds like there are going to be a bunch of people with vast knowledge and information to share.

what i have:

-room for a dozen and a half people in the shop
-room out into the rest of the building for expansion (not heated)
-lots of bench space to mount presses (i can line the bench edge with 2x4 and/or 2x6 so you can fasten your press down)
-range to test loads

what we'll do:

-kind of play it by ear...  the schedule is up to what ever the group would prefer to see and talk about.  discussion of equipment, show and tell, etc. are all encouraged, so bring your stuff and we'll find a spot for it.
-i have a chronograph, but it isn't so reliable in cold weather.  if somebody has a reliable chrony, you might bring it.
-i've been shooting primarily steel, so if somebody wants to shoot at targets (for pistol of course as i have all the stuff for rifles, targets, etc.) then toss in a target stand and some paper...

lunch?  potluck again.  my wife will make some stuff and have the coffee pot going, but if everyone brings a little something we should do fine.

please hit the poll with so we have a head count and hit this thread with what you're going to bring so we can have a visual and inventory of what to expect, and thus what i'll need to do to accommodate you.

this was a great idea guys, i'm looking forward to it!  see you all on the 11th if i don't run into you before.

-michael

I'd be interested. I have been wanting to get into reloading, and have just been building up equipment and components.

I THINK the date will work for me, and I'd be willing to bring a Dillon 550b to mount up for group use. It's currently laying in a box

Off the top of my head, I have dies for .223, .45, and .357

Can I bring a some components to learn with? I have desired to start reloading for quite a while, but have not gotten around to buying so much as a manual yet.

yup.  bring them along...  i have some manuals, so if others bring theirs, we can compare a few and discuss pros/cons...  good thing you mentioned it!

see you then.

I would like to be there for a bit maybe in the morning.....I know next to nothing about reloading.  I do have a metric shit ton of brass (mostly Win 223 match once fired) and a bunch of Lake City 556 also once fired and none of it cleaned.
Can't stay to long, but would love to shoot the shit and learn some things.

Oh yeah, I hate Septic.....hehehehehhe.

I put the shy part just because I am not sure if I can make it yet. I know i have primers, brass, and bullets and powder for .45 and .223 but no press anymore because I got fed up with cases sticking and such. Plus I don't own a firearm that shoots .45 anymore.

i see we managed to get the 'i hate septic' numbers up to around 6, so that's always good.  i was hoping for better numbers there, but give it time i guess...

well this sucks... it was my concept and I won't be able to make it.

tommorrow is finals week and I have to do too many papers this weekend to make it out.

let's hope this can become a regular thing like the build days
I've never made it to a build day because I'm too poor to build an AR. (but I have a great AK)

Looks like I won't be making it either.  Weatherman says rain turning to ice turning to snow with 40 MPH winds.

I did order a Pri Mount to vise up my receiver so I can work on it.  Should be here Wed.  I'll try to hammer it together and let you know how it works out.

Maybe I can make the spring shoot.

Damn weather.
