After buying my first military rifle at the show this weekend, an Arisaka Type 99, and discussing it with some guys there, I think I'm interested in joining the club.  The application on the web site is a little confusing and doesn't say what the dues are.

Anyway, is anyone a member that can point me to the best way to approach the group?

Thanks,

Sauce

I'm an HGCA member.  Dues are $50 a year, but that includes free entry to all HGCA gun shows (not including parking).  You can also get some pretty cool door prizes when you attend the monthly member meetings.

wow!

what model, arsenal code? does it have the mum?

there was a guy walking around with one that had a sporterized stock, I almost stopped him, (I like buying these as they are always less than $100 usually, then putting the military stock back on them.)

It's a type 99 7.7 mm, Kokura arsenal, 23rd series 91,XXX, numbers on bolt match.  Completely ground mum but full AA sights with wings, chrome bore and bolt face, early style bolt/safety, generally very good condition.  The only thing it is missing is the cleaning rod.  So I'm on the lookout for a a cleaning rod and bayonet now.

I did pay significantly more than $100 though.  I really wanted a complete early style rifle and got exactly what I wanted, less a cleaning rod.

ebay surprisingly, I've seen is a good source for arisaka parts.  About once a week, a type 99 stock is up for aution, and a few times a week parts are offered.  There's always bayonets and cleaning rods for sale as well.  I know an arisaka parts dealer in the woodlands if you want to give him a call.

So the next meeting should be Feb 8th?  Maybe I'll just plan on showing up at the meeting and getting to know some people and getting opinions on my rifle.

Thanks for the ebay point MM.  I've checked there some but I'm not thrilled about starting up an ebay account again.
