I am thinking about getting a night vision scope.  About the most I can afford is a Gen 2 maybe a 2+, anyone ideas would help.  I am interested in 100-175 yard ability.   Going to most likely put on my  20in ar or a new 308 that is on the way.  then there is a suppressor that is on the wish list.. does it ever end....

Thanks

The price for Gen 2+ starts at under 1,000. I'd like to take a look at one if you get your hands on one, I would like to see the difference between it and the Gen 3.

don't buy gen2.  spend the money and get the gen3 or don't go night vision.
gen2 are ok but need an illuminator.  Gen3 were made to "hunt" gen2.

you   can look at NV like looking at flash lights.
gen 1 is like a mini mag light.  (not much light and no distance)
gen 2 is like a C-cell mag light. (good light up close but not much at distance)
gen 3 is like a 120 lumen Surefire. (good light at distance)

the gen3 sell themselves.  once you look thru one you will throw rocks at the 1 and 2.

Do you like one brand or model over another.  Maybe a vendor to look at?  Looking at the ATN web site... seems that the 2+ is more expensive than the 3?

Thanks

I think you have to look at who makes them.
you have ITT Litton and they are the best by far.

then a full step down is russian, ATN etc.

not saying ATN will not suit your needs.  it may.
You have to look at what you can get by with.

the problem is the lower gens look like your trying to see thru a murky fish tank.
a 2 can cost more than a 3.

Can first is my advice on 'toys' that I enjoy.

Once you go suppressed, everything else is loud and obnoxious.

Already have a price for 2.  Formed a LLC yesterday ...One of the owners of the company I worl for wants one for his AR,

So you are saying  .... ONE YOU GO SUPPRESSED YOU NEVER GO BACK?
