I have a Bushmaster "shorty" w. AK muzzle
and the handguards heat up pretty fast.
Does anyone have any suggestions on what
I might be able to do?

Besides buying gloves...
Thanks ALL

Suggest ya get a new set of "oval" M4 handguards sold by several different fellows on the Equipment Exchange, they will help...

or ya could purchase one of the ARMS S.I.R.S. products also sold there.... their much more expensive but they free-float your barrel and you'll never have to worrry about barrel heat again.

You could get a cork handguard, but it's for practice only, illegal for use in competition.  Try sosa.com for more info.  : )

What about a forward pistol grip, but then you need a rail. Where do you live in IL? I have M4 handguards off a Bushmaster that have never saw barrel heat. I put a SIR on instead. Don't know what a fair price is though.

Does your handguards have aluminum heat shields inside them to protect them from heating up?
I never heard of any AR15 handguards heating up.

Actually, it does have the shield guards
inside.  I found it odd too, that it got hot
so fast.  I just might have to wait to
get the ARMS system..

Or maybe the carbon free floating tubes?
Thanks for the info
