I've shot 3 gun at Rio Salado a couple times (badly) but not at PRGC yet. Anything special I need to know? Any input on estimated round counts or gear that is/is not allowed? I plan to shoot a CETME with LC and SA ball, Mossberg 500A, and an XD .45 out of a Blackhawk Serpa holster. Running shoes, shorts, T-shirt, eyes, ears, water, knee and elbow pads. Any input is appreciated. Thanks.

It is similar but the pistol round count is usually higher and more difficult IMO.  Also, know you slug zero.  Round count has varied but you should be OK with 100 bird shot, 100 rifle, 50 pistol and 10 slugs.  You might want to bring more rifle rounds if you are not confident with long range.

Your gear sounds just fine. They use the same basic rules as Rio, so you shouldn't have any surprises there. The shotgun stage in the wash can be something of an aerobic workout... it's a little on the long side, and goes uphill. It's great fun.

Likewise. I had a lot of fun, despite running two weapons with which I am not perfectly familiar. I'll shoot one of my ARs and my Glock 22 next time. I need a semi shotgun before I can post remotely competitive scores. At least that's my story and I'm sticking to it.

ANY shotgun will do.
The guy I was shooting with shot an O/U......

When I first came out, I only had a 1903 vintage Win 97.
No way I was gonna put modern max dram slugs thru it, so I loaded slugs with black powder.
Oh the flames and fun!

It is all good.
If you shoot thru with me next time, you can use my Benelli.

If you are still running that dual-optic setup in Open Division, then a Saiga 12 would be a logical choice for you. They are cheap again nowadays - at less than $500, easily the best deal for an Open shotgun. If you want to kick the tires on one, let me know and I'll bring mine to the December match for you to play with.

That sounds awesome. I'd love to shoot it if I can make it in December. My baby girl is due any day now so I might not be able to attend. I'm pretty confident that I want a Saiga, though. I plan to buy one whenever I can afford it.

I feel a LOT more comfortable and competent with any AR, especially that 3-9x40mm & mini red dot setup you saw me with before. It's fun to shoot the match with other guns, though, and the Mossberg gives me a reason to drag out a battle rifle and a .45. The CETME is pretty awkward, though.

No problem, let me know if you are going to make it... I'm not holding my breath though as your whole world is about to get turned upside down
