I have just returned home from SW Asia after 9 mos., so I am a little out of the loop. Is there anyone who can tell me if the range is open again?

Well I think that is great news! Its county sponsored (as it should be) and the times I was there, the folks were kind and respectful to me. It is limited to being only a "sight in" or "bench rest" range - but that's not a criticism. For what it is, i think they do a fine job.

Looks like the county runs the range to me.

As I recall the range was built using money from donations and fundraisers. Range fees pay for the bulk of, if not all of, the other maintenance costs.

I was just there on Thursday of last week. Spent a pleasant few hours getting rid of about 400rds.

I recall one of the RO's telling me it was one of the only facilities in the rec and parks dept that was fully self supporting and the rec and parks affiliation was for liability and other legal reasons.

ETA - I'm not so sure Claire would be happy with the affiliation.

Thanks for the replies and the pics. I am going to have to get up there this week. I have a new .17HMR that needs some tweeking. A buddy of mine tells me it will hit a "Skoal can" at 200 yds all day long.
