Todays Daily Mail had an article about the guns the Met Police are using to fight Terrorism.
This is what it said

Weapons In The War On Terror

Glock 17
Made:Austria
Cost:£400
Weight:9.87oz (bit f**king light that, isn't it?)
Total length:7.32ins
Calibre:9mm
Range:50ft
Magazine:17/19rounds
Entry level police firearm, issued to officers in Scotland Yard's SO19 armed response vehicles-the first on the scene in an incident.

Smith & Wesson .38 Model 10
Made:US
Cost:£300
Weight:2.2lbs
Total length:9ins
Calibre 0.38mm (bit f**king small that, isn't it?)
Range:60ft
Magazine:6 rounds (never f**king heard of a revolver having a magazine before, have you?)
Alternative to the Glock 17.
Described as 'the most successful revolver ever produced'. Used by 80 per cent of U.S. law enforcement agencies. (well maybe 30 f**king years ago)

Heckler & Koch HK33 SG1
Made:Germany
Cost:£800
Weight:8.6lbs
Total length:36ins
Calibre:5.56mm
Range:650yds
Magazine:30rounds
Sniper version of standard issue assault rifle. can be used in seige situations.

Heckler £ Koch MP5K PDW
Made:Germany
Cost:£900
Weight:6lbs
Total length:14.5ins (bit f**king longer than that with the stock extended, as the pic shows)
Personal defense weapon, likely to be used by undercover officers because its folding stock makes for easy concealment.

AW50 Heavy Sniper Rifle
Made:US (eh? first I've f**king heard of this)
Cost:£7,000
Weight:33lbs (bit f**king heavy that, isn't it?)
Total length:56ins
Calibre:.50BMG (Browning Machine Gun) (Are they sure they actually f**king have these?)
Range:2,200yds
Magazine:5 rounds
Sniper rifle, light and compact, used by police marksman.
(Now, I may be mistaken, but I don't f**king consider 56ins and 33lbs to be light and compact, do you?)

7.62 Lee Enfield Enforcer
Made:UK
Cost:N/A (I'm not f**king surprised as they don't even make these anymore, do they?)
Weight:10.5lbs
Range:3,000yds
Magazine:10 rounds
Large calibre sniper rifle used by police marksman in long range situations. Very powerful and can also take out vehicles.
Again, I must be f**king mistaken as I thought they didn't use these antiquated things anymore, but there again as the article states, the 7.62 round has 800yds more range than the .50BMG and can take out vehicles, I'm not surprised they've retained them

The article then goes on to say that as well as SO19, there are up to 1,000 "authorised shots" who undergo 2 weeks training-including target practise and basic tactics-before being handed a Glock 17.
However, it can only be taken outside the station with the permission of senior officers. (F**king good job too, with that level of training)

SO19 officers undergo a further 3 weeks training on top of the 2 week basic. (anyone feeling safer now??)

Even more highly rated are SO19 SFO (Specialist Firearms Officers), the "elite" who undergo "SAS style training".
Usually dressed in uniform, including body armour, they carry Heckler and Kock submachine guns and are trained to be deadly with a single shot. Their weapons cannot be switched to fire a stream of bullets. Wow, a single shot Machine Gun.
They undergo as much as 3 days training every 6 weeks

Why can't the newspapers just ask a proper firearms expert for info. And NO, I don't mean f**king Mike Yardley

That's all

Someone's info is a little out of date...

No G36 with grenade/flare launcher?

Oh well better not let facts get in the way of a badly witten article

I still blame the Media for driving our hangun ban....damn gutter press

It's nice to find out that my 7.62 Enfield can blow up an armoured car at 3,000 yards, I had never suspected I owned such a weapon of mass destruction

Mike Yardley is also an 'explosives expert' by the way

Considering that not only does the Enforcer have 3000yds range compared to the AW's 2200yds, it also has twice the capacity, is 9ins shorter, 22 1/2 lbs lighter and is about 20 times cheaper...it's a no brainer really

And the Glock 17 has a range of only 50ft?
jeez airsoft will go further than that, and so would my harsh langague!

And 3 days training every 6 weeks - I can sleep safer now

They are the ones that used to frighten me!  They practice in private now……so would I if I was as bad a shot as some of them were…

That’s interesting:
Last winter I shot my Glock 17 at targets 50 meters away.  (I was bored at shooting at 20 meter targets.)
It was one of the Dreaded Silhouette targets that are illegal Across the Pond.
After adjusting for the fact that I wasn’t shooting at a target 25 meters away I shot many respectful groups.
By the way; I’ve seen others shoot at targets 90 meters away.  I don’t know how well they did, however.

They're looking to make plinking holes in shaped paper illegal.

Well let's pull down out trous, bend over and let the GCN butt-f*** us.

They are not illegal. Period. Instead of sitting there moaning about what might be, go and shoot some silhouettes.
Eventually everything might be banned, but you don't moan about that.
GNC will always want to ban something, and just wanting to shoot should be banned according to them, but the answer is to go and make a statement against their wishes by doing, using, being there. If the sport is more popular and has a greater participation then it will be stronger and able to fight these silly ideas better.

Here here! We need to get more people involved in the sport. We also must pressure the gov't and our representatives. The GCN are doing it, so must we. We must show the politicians that there is a potent "gun-lobby" in the UK and we will not be raped by the GCN.

I don't "moan" btw. If we don't complain about the state of affairs then we might wake up one day with nothing to shoot or shoot with. Taking an "enkoy it while it lasts" attitude is a surefire way of letting everything get banned.

The GCN are a bunch of panzies, we need to let people know this fact.

This Saturday coming our club will be hosting a little event to introduce youngsters to shooting.
I'll take my meagre collection down for them to have a go.
Without youngsters getting involved/introduced there will only be us old men you old farts

Mark, you missed off the G36K and the MP7(PDW). (what is it with HK and PDW, I know at least 3 different firearms they've called a PDW)

Perhaps they'll have to increase training to a whole month (or shoot weekends to make up time)

The AW50 is meant to be used for taking out vehicles from motorway bridges and similar places. where vehicles are entering the city.

The Sunday Times was saying that the G36K is only issued to some special support group made up of special forces people that have been assigned to this particular operation.
And that the guy with the G3 that has the Schmidt on top, the picture that is everywhere and his face is pixelated, that he is definately special forces.

They did say also that the people that shot the Brazillian were police acting under special forces guidance, not the other way round.

How true this is I don't know but I bet it's better researched than the daily mail.

No, and judging from the content of the article the researcher needed to do a lot more checking anyway. Not surprised really.
