There is a small show in Durant Oklahoma this weekend at the Fairgrounds. Usually private dealers and a few pawn shops but I've seen some good deals walking the aisles.

Can't legally buy handguns out of state...

I might have to go check that show out though...not even 30 minutes from me.

Alright I bit the dust and dug up what i didnt know....

You cant buy handguns in other states but you can buy rifles in other states.

Provided that federal law and the laws of both the dealer's and purchaser's states and localities are complied with:

An individual 21 years of age or older may acquire a handgun from a dealer federally licensed to sell firearms in the individual's state of residence
An individual 18 years of age or older may purchase a rifle or shotgun from a federally licensed dealer in any state
It shall be unlawful for any licensed importer, licensed manufacturer, or licensed dealer to sell, deliver, or transfer a firearm unless the federal firearms licensee receives notice of approval from a prescribed source approving the transfer.

Sale of a firearm by a federally licensed dealer must be documented by a federal form 4473, which identifies and includes other information about the purchaser, and records the make, model, and serial number of the firearm. Sales to an individual of multiple handguns within a five-day period require dealer notification to the Federal Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco and Firearms. Violations of dealer record keeping requirements are punishable by a penalty of up to $1000 and one year's imprisonment.

Sorry guys.

A couple of weeks ago, I was selling a pistol which I stipulated I would only sell locally. On another board (which shall remain nameless), I received a PM from a guy asking me if I would meet him near the state line for a face to face sale. He had no posts showing on the forum, but I said sure, once we had agreed on price. I then thought about it and asked him if he lived in OK or TX. Here's his answer:

Well both we have a residence in Tx at Lake Texhoma but live in Ok.

My DL is in Ok........

I said I'd pass, and he responds:

I guess I do not understand what is complicated about it ???? I have bought numerous guns outof state and had people out of state sell me guns.

But never the less I understand best of luck on the sale .......

I then reminded him that he needed to use an FFL, but thanks for the interest.

Made me feel like I was weekend project for a bored ATF agent.

Really? I'm game.

Do you have to be 21 though? I've got 6 more months.

Only if you intend to buy a handgun from a licensed dealer or intend to purchase handgun ammunition.

Let's try this one more time, although it's been adequately explained above.

No, you cannot LEGALLY buy a handgun from a private owner or an FFL dealer at age 20 1/2. No one with any brains would sell one to you, and if you have any brains you won't try it. "Felon" stays with you forever.
