Going to be in Champaign this week. Any good gun shops / ranges in the area? Im up in the Chicago area -aka. behind the Iron Curtain- and there is nothing up here.

I'm afraid that Champaign - being a University town - and a BLUE COUNTY - is not that much more hospitable than Chicago.  There's a few pawn shops (Gold and Diamond Exchange is one) and one store heading east away from Urbana - on route 150 (actually in Mayview, IL) called Dave's Firearms and Cycle repair.  

As for places to shoot, they are all private and located away from the bi-polar cities of Champaign and Urbana (Danville, St Joseph, Sadorus).  The closest indoor ranges are in Bloomington and Springfield.

Enjoy your stay. Hang out at Hooters or ROCKS (good bar) and have a great time otherwise.

Only place that has anything fun to look at is Rantoul Pawn shop, and even then it's kinda slim pickins.
