I will be in Gun Lake from Feb 6 to Feb 13, for the opening of the new casino. I will be training some of the new staff there. I was wondering what there is to do around the area, and also what are some laws on pocket knives? Would anyone like to grab a beer while I am down there. I am not sure where I'm staying.

Basically law on knives is blade 3" and under are GTG.

I am sure you will be staying in or near Grand Rapids, there is nothing worth anything down that way for hotels.  20 minutes to Wayland from GR.

eta: law reads:

750.226 Firearm or dangerous weapon; carrying with unlawful intent.

Sec. 226.

Carrying firearm or dangerous weapon with unlawful intent Any
person who, with intent to use the same unlawfully against the person of
another, goes armed with a pistol or other firearm or dagger, dirk,
razor, stiletto, or knife having a blade over 3 inches in length, or any
other dangerous or deadly weapon or instrument, shall be guilty of a
felony, punishable by imprisonment in the state prison for not more than
5 years or by a fine of not more than 2,500 dollars.

So you can carry with bigger than 3" blade as long as you have no unlawful intent, but then why chance the hassle.  Being out of state resident I would stick with something under 3".

No state preemption on knives so check local ordinances to be safe.
