I was/am thinking about it.  Kind of a long drive though, especially if nobody else goes.

Now what shall I bring with me........

OK, I had that one coming to me.
I mean the actual location, like rd 41 or off of Scotty rd?  Or some where else?

We will typically gather at the Chevron station just outside of bustling downtown Granite Falls.  The Chevron with the McDonalds attached to it.

I believe CavVet was wanting to start the festivites about noon.

Boomer: Last time I checked(early this year) it was still closed, though the pit isn't a far walk from the gate.

Phil_in_Seattle: Thanks, that was what I was looking for.I knew I was in for it after I hit the submit button.
By the way, We're getting down right metropolis in size.  We now have a "Subway"!

Thanks, again.

So does that mean Cheveron at noon or be up at the pit at noon?

I have been sick as a dog these past few days, but I think the second bottle of NyQuel has worked. I'll be at the Chevron in GF at noon.

I-5 north to Everett.  East on US-2 (toward Steven's pass).  Get in the left lane.  At the east end of the trestle it splits left and right (right is the main road that goes to Snohomish); take the left fork.  It
immediately forks again, stay in the left side and go up Highway 204 (I think) to Lake Stevens.  At the first light get in the left lane.  At the 2nd light turn left/north onto Highway 9.  Go north to Highway 92; it's well
marked and there is a traffic light. Turn right. Go up 92 until you get to Granite Falls.  You'll know you're there when you see the McDonald's on your right.

Head east from Granite Falls (i.e. the same direction you came in to Granite Falls) on Hwy 92...they also call it E. Stanley street in town. You're going to hit a 4 way stop with a bunch of signs...one says Mountain
Loop Hwy and points to the left...turn left.
Now's where the directions are going to get a bit fuzzy.  You need to drive about 6 miles out of town on the Mountain Loop Hwy.  At about mile 5, you're going to start heading up a big, long hill.  Almost at the top of the hill, on the left side of the road, you're going to see a road that's blocked off with a gate. This is your clue to start slowing down as the very next possible left you can take is the entrance to the pit. There some room on the left side of the road to park.

Exellent job in the directions!, I wish the dep's and firefighters in that area could do so well, Now Im going to be at work in a few min's, (9-1-1) Dont let me hear any stupid calls, because the Robe Fire dept sucks!,(they have one good guy) and Granite Falls will take a bit to get to you!..Be safe, maybe next time

Sorry guys, I was too busy getting rid of the obviously contaminated leftover seafood that someone who shall remain nameless brought be from a New Years Eve party.
Fresh shrimp my sore ass!

I heard the turnout was very good.

Where's that damn pepto-bismol at?

If the damn anti-Bush protestors who marched through my neighborhood would have come close enough to my place I could have let them have a suprise from my second floor window.
