LANSING, Mich. (Map, News) -
A man seeking to recall Gov. Jennifer Granholm said Wednesday that he'll start collecting the more than 950,000 signatures he will need now that his petition language has been approved.

The Ingham County Election Commission voted 2-1 Wednesday to allow the language submitted by Paul Piche of Omer, a corrections officer at the state prison in Standish who is upset with the governor's push to release more inmates eligible for parole.

Granholm's spokeswoman, Liz Boyd, said the Democratic governor's outside legal counsel plans to appeal the commission's decision to the Ingham County Circuit Court in hopes of keeping the recall off the ballot.

Granholm has repeatedly defended her plan to release more inmates, noting that Michigan unnecessarily imprisons people longer than most surrounding states, costing the state money it doesn't have.

I'm sure the Ingham county circuit court would love to see all the inmates released that it put away....

I may be wrong, but isn't this her last year in office, anyway? this makes as much sense as the people who wanted to impeach Bush in his last year. why bother?

The sooner the better for us

Yes, but if the recall is successive, the impeachment becomes part of her resume

Do you really want Cherry in there to run as an incumbent next election?

It ain't gonna happen because you can't gather the 1 million plus signatures required within the 90 day time frame. You would need over 10 K signatures each and every day for the next 90 days.

I didn't expect that from you. It's obviously going to be a tough battle, but I think it's more about the message and to hopefully get some of the people in this sad state thinking. As soon as I get a reply back about the petition, I plan to spread it around my work and neighborhood and solicit signatures from anyone I can, anywhere that I can to help out. If I have to go hang out at the grocery store or stand on the corner with a sandwich board, I'll do that too.

I think the biggest problem is that I'm not sure the guy had all his ducks in a row to deal with this and time is of the essence.

That's just reality. I was going to add that it is largely symbolic and a good neg on the Gov but that is about it. Political reality is the number of signatures needed is just too great to overcome.

Remember that when guys start/continue dogging on Cox or keep complaining about how the suppressor issue is still dragging on.

It's just reality.

You're dealing with a statistical impossibility collecting those numbers of signatures - that's my point. History also bears this out. I'm the last guy that's going to support Granholm - you know that! As for Cox - he's been the Best Attorney General Ever!

LEADERSHIP FOR A CHANGE??? MIKE COX FOR GOVERNOR!!!

it's going to take a long time to undo all her fuck-up's and to get this state back to where it use to be ,if it's not to late.
