Being new is OK, what the heck were you guys doing six months ago when I was still building those things? Now all I want are AR's. IM me if you guys need help or tools.

You guys are definitely going about 1st builds the hard way. I hate building on flats, way too much work vs buying a Global or a Ewbank complete. AK's are a forgiving platform with somewhat loose tolerances but there really ain't much when you're welding on those rails. I'll be at the show next Saturday and can point you guys at a couple builders with tables that are really good who can give you excellent pointers. Good luck!

I can't speak from experience, having onlyn used 555th's and CWToyota's jigs, but the AKBuilder ones have taken out all the BS measuring and guesswork out of bending flats. Heat treating is simple, especially if you have an OOW receiver to compare finished treated color with. Other than the receiver a chimp can put them together, all it takes are the right tools and some patient asssembly. Remember, PATIENT assembly. The most common mistakes happen when you get all gun happy and space out a step. Go slow and review everything, especially when you start to squish rivets and always keep checking when grinding/filing off material as it's easier to remove metal than it is to ad it. I hope this helps.

Firearm? Check.

Building? Check.

Small amounts of money here & there? Check.

Another gun to feed that I built? Check.

I still for the life of me cant figure out why this turns me on about as much as Hillary Clinton.

Must be the platform. <shrug> I have no clue.

We have already made AKs and have all the tools for doing it here; why would we want to get wet to build an AK?

I start Vacation on Saturday, The guys that are local to me, Im thinking of tinkering around at night during the week, or if you have week days off during the week, Im trying to figure out if I can get the brother in laws shop on the following Saturday or Sunday, The guys that I have IM'd Im having a hard time trying to get a day where everyone is avail, I know that we will have to have at least 3 (cuz I still have a flat that has not even shipped yet) and another kit that ships in the morning...

Any of you local guys in Sno/King Co that want to play during the week or if you can sneak out after work (or take the day off) let me know, I would really like to try and get as many people going as possible, I dont have the Form like sixguns so to be honest if we are bending flats we are kind of at his mercy anyway, I am all set up for pressing out the bbl pins, and pressing out the bbls, and have the stuff to grind down the rivest and drill out the rear trunion..If you are really brave and trust your measurments I have the Sheet metal bender also.
