If someone has a question about a members credibility, shouldn't that person ask the member directly, rather than go off where the member is not around and talk shit about him?

Yes, they should contact that person privately to verify their credibility.
Honest people will have no problem with that, but the posers/imposters on the other hand...

Credibility?

Depends on what it is, sometimes that information can be obtained without having to make the person in question aware that you question their credibility which depending upon the situation could be better for BOTH sides.
Are you going to take someone bringing your credibility in question to your face in a nice peaceful and respectful manner? Maybe you would BUT I can tell by this post that you are already on the defensive and therefore emotions are involved, it's natural.. but some people seek to avoid human emotions. I know I do because I have experience with many idiots who can't deal with rejection and their own emotions over the smallest of things, sometimes it's just they have something else going on and you just 'pushed' them over the edge... they were teetering ALL DAY but it was you that gave that last little 'nudge'.

Well, if you're asking someone to verify their own credibility, it kind of begs the question - if they're not credible, what's to stop them from saying they are? Nothing justifies talking smack about someone behind their back, but I don't think there's anything wrong with asking around regarding someone's reputation.

Ask the person, don't accuse and attack them behind their back.  Seems  cowardly and childish to me.

Yes, it is.  That could be a reason many people on the Internet like to remain anonymous while others, like you, consider yourself above board where you don't feel it necessary to hide behind a keyboard.  Personally, if I was curious about a person's reputation, I'd contact somebody that I respect their opinion who might know that person.

So, did somebody find some dirt on you when searching the criminal databases?

Doesn't being an INVESTIGATOR require you as part of your duties to GO BEHIND PEOPLES BACKS?

Seriously though, asking someone something .. Honest person tells the truth, criminal tells you a lie... what's the point?

"Talking Smack" well it really depends on what it is you mean by talking smack, some guys says I should date this chick and I say a bunch of stuff about her that isn't nice.. because it's the ACTUAL reason why I wouldn't date her.. should I say that stuff to her face? NO Because why would I intentionally want to say stuff to a chick I don't want to date that would hurt her. I'd rather just be nice and LIE and make up some reason besides telling her she's ugly/fat/repulsive/ whatever... I guess I could just lie to the guy saying stuff but if you want to put blame on someone I'd blame the idiot telling you that you should date that chick. There are certain things you could just ask someone to their face and they can prove what they say, there are things that you can't ask the person.. so it really depends on what SPECIFICALLY you are talking about!

Yes, that person should.  Just like the person whose credibility has been questioned or who is taking up for he whose credibility has been questioned should talk to that member directly...rather than whining rhetorically on a public forum.

How can it be behind their back when it's on a public forum that they frequent? And how are they supposed to know if you are not around... I can leave a window open for AR15.com and it will look as though I am always online!?!?

Once again, without knowing the specifics there is no way to truly agree/disagree with you (TxInvestigator)... I do think that people should try and resolve their issues with the person in question but there are times when a 3rd party involvement is a much better solution

Everybody talks shit about trg, that's a given.

And if you want to start an argument with Txinvestigator, talk shit about some vague portion of the Texas penal code.

I only try to talk shit in only one or two posts at any given time, then move on.
