Anyone know a good 1911 gunsmith in Arizona? Preferably in the Phoenix Metro or East Valley area...

I know AzExArms does refinishing and rebuilding AR's and AK's, but I don't know if Derek does 1911 trigger work..Well Derek, do ya?

I have a Colt Commander that needs a bit of creep taken out of the trigger pull..Not much, but it's beyond my scope of knowledge...

so many guys do 1911s that I never bought the fixtures for doing the trigger jobs.

Try Derek at Accuracy Speaks at Rio Salado, he's a 1911 nut.

I also recommend Nelson Ford.Someone on 1911 forum told me about him and he worked on my Colt right there while I waited. He's a great guy and and an honest gunsmith. His phone # is (602)992-0050 The Gunsmith Inc.He just got into computers recently so don't bother emailing him as you probably won't get a response. He will pick up the phone and talk to you, though.Ted Yost is in Tempe now but I'm not sure if he he has a long wait list. His # is (480) 804-1911.

1911 heaven in the yellow book.

I have not used them as I screw up my own guns.

Then I can only blame myself.

I bought a "Thoroughbred" from 1911-Heaven.  Big mistake.  Sent it to Gemini-Customs just to have it made usable so I could sell it without feeling guilty.

Need further reference, check with The Armory or Bear Arms.  I am not quoting or speaking for them, but swing by and see what their staff has to say.  I used to shop there... never again.

I am thinking Ted Yoast for some work that needs done.

I called Nelson Ford and Ted Yost today. Nelson wants $109 for a basic trigger job with a 4-6 week turn around (Or sooner if you pay up front) and Ted has a 2 month turn around because they just moved and need to set up shop and his price is $89 to $125 depending on what it needs....

Gadson, how much do you charge for a complete dehorn job on a stainless 1911?

Hell just do a google seach on 1911 trigger job and see what you get.

If you screw it up, you can get replacement parts from Brownells catalog.

Unless you get a good reference on a compitent person, just butcher it yourself.

The prices quoted above are way to high for a 1911 trigger job. They keep your pistol 4 weeks or longer to do a 1 to 2 hour job to justify overcharging you.

You might check the Brownells catalog for a pre tuned trigger group at the wieght you want for a good price.

It ain't rocket science.

Derek, no your prices are great.

Back to Az_Redneck..
If you're just looking to reduce some creep, give it a shot yourself, do some research online.  If it's your personal defense gun, have a licensed gunsmith do it.

Give BigBore a call 602-923-1416.  The guy's name is Gordon I believe.  The store's over by Bell and 29th street.

Nelson Ford has not allways been as these guys claim.  Don't want to slam anyone here, but be advised.  IM Mail me for details if interested.

Bigbore in North Phoenix. Address posted above. Gordon has worked on a few 1911's for me. Very good work and fair prices.

Gordon Phallus is a ripoff artist!  I won't do business with that shithead ever again!  He charged me $38 for a freaking Ed Brown $15 plunger tube (just the part)!  Just check out his website...he hates the words "guarantee" and "warranty".

I think it is the lack of warranty, and the lack of garuntee that is implied.

Just go ahead and ask the Phallus if he warrantees any of his pistols and see what he says!
