Hey guys,

I just wanted to see if anyone notice any of the city/county police forces used any ARs for their patrol rifles. The last time I was in the Gun Shop, old Smokey told me that a bunch of Gwinnett county police bought out the RRA M4 Entry rifles so that's the reason they were out. I haven't seen any around town so maybe they're using personal weapons instead?

Just curious...

That's nothing, my town's police force has AR's and an armored personnel carrier. Seriously:

Yes, Gwinnett County PD has a Patrol Rifle program, but we have to provide our own rifles if we want one.

Glad I got my RRA Entry Tactical when I did. Smokey just got in 5 of them before he called me.

BTW, sources tell me that many Gwinnett Co LEO have Full Auto rifles.

I do too, but I'm going for my AR first.

The only full auto rifles we have are used by the SWAT team. We have Bushmaster M4's, H&K MP5's, a couple of SD's and I have seen a Steyr AUG and HK93, but the last 2 arent general issue to the team.
All the road officers you see that have rifles are semi-only with a minimum barrel length of 16" and no longer than 20"

I'd agree with that. My 1st NFA purchase yrs ago was an Uzi and M-11 from a retired Gwinnett Co. Lieutenant and my M-16 was also owned by a Gwinett Co. officer.

In the good old days you could get most anything signed off by Chuck Seavers of the GBI. I've got a $20.00 that says Chuck signed for 95% of NFA owned bt Gwinnett Co. LEO's.

cobb's swat team has G36's. i think nearly every police agency is moving to either issue or allow personal purchase of a patrol rifle for officers. it's a good idea, so long as they know how to use it. and i've heard that qualification with the patrol carbines can be tough, so that's good.
