I thought about it for awhile, but decided against another weapon (rifle) that takes a different caliber, different mags, etc. What was not pictured (but is now, see below) is the Remington 700 PSS w/ 20" bull barrel + Leupold 3.5-10X40 M3 w/ Premier Recticles USMC Mil-Dot recticle. Nice 600-700 yard gun. The smaller barrel (as opposed to the standard 26" stock one) makes it easier to handle in smaller spaces, but takes an 800 yd rifle down to 600-700 yd.
Right now, my focus is getting rid of some extra gear (HBAR, MOLLE II, etc) so I can get a CCW and Tactical (both) handgun. Thinking of something like Glock G23/G27, Sig P229/P239, HK Tactical/USP Compact. I want a big gun for fun, but something not so big to carry. The M4/Rem 700 is a nice combination. Now, I just need to add a handgun.  |

Thanks. I have been lurking around for about a year (member for 6 months). I just never got around to hitting the hometown boards until now. I am usually at Wilson Shoals WMA up above Gainesville about once a month. Trying to get into River Bend as a guest to check it out, but don't know if I could afford it even if I liked it (first year is TOO expensive for me).

DeltaAir423 and a few of us live in the north Gwinnett/Hall/Jackson county area so we too hit Wilson Shoals sometimes. Let me know if you ever want to hit the range.
There is also an awesome range in Birmingham (yes, I mean Alabama). The 'Bama gang has hosted a few group shoots there for us. We get to shoot Tannerite, steel pistol and rifle targets, etc. on a range reserved just for us. It's worth the trip. We've got a shoot coming up on Saturday, August 9th. It's a good time and you're welcome to join us. See ya. |

OK, all this talk about nuts is making me wonder if I want to hang out with you guys!!! (jk).
I am busy the weekend of the 9th so I can't be there that weekend. Let me know when the next B'ham trip is though. Sounds good. What is the range distance there? I might be able to make it up to Wilson Shoals WMA the following weekend though. Do you guys go mostly on SAT or SUN? I prefer SUN afternoons. We normally arrive about 2. Seems less crowded then. |

We'll keep you posted on the next 'Bama shoot. Range is 100 yards, but it's reserved for us alone. They also have nice pistol steel target ranges just for us.
When I go to WS it's always on a Sunday. With deer season approaching, I like to get there around 11:15-11:30 and setup everything. Shooting doesn't start until 12:00. |
