Ok, don't flame me to bad

Black powder AR15 FTMFW! I need to install the forward assist tomorrow and test fire it. What scope do y'all recommend?

that's pretty damn fuddtastic

seriously, that's cool. i'm sure a NCstar would hold up fine behind the light recoil that will have

Call me stupid, but fwd assist on a smoke pole?  Wouldn't that just make the primer go off

I'd worry less about the scope and more about the mounts.
I cracked 2 sets of mounts/rings on a M/L before I learned my lesson (I'm a little slow, just ask around).
I put a set of heavy steel mounts like these on about 9 years ago and haven't had a problem since.

I have a Nikon pro staff scope that has held up well for many years under the punishment of a M/L and pyrodex abuse.
I actually shoot my M/L probably more than most.  When stationed in Charleston it was all I hunted with on base and all I use at Ft. Gordon now, also usually take 2 dedicated M/L trips a year to other states.
Put a light coat of non-petroleum based grease (like the kind used to clean muzzleloaders) on the bottom of it to help protect from corrosion.

It fires using a primed 7.62x25mm case.

You think a one piece Armalite mount would hold up? I don't know anything about ML

1. Sweet
2. OK, but still...  You smack the FA, and should the FP happen to hit the primer = Bang with a M/L.  Probably not any more risk than on a regular rifle, you just get the added benefit of cleaning out your drawers in a big blue smoke cloud.

Shouldn't be a problem.  I have a lot of M/L experience, feel free to IM me if you have specific questions.  I'm happy to help......except for maybe being there for the test fire

That's pretty danged cool.  I'll preface this by saying that I know nothing about muzzleloaders, but, I have seen some pretty nice dedicated-muzzleloader scopes from Nikon.

Here you go:

Yes, I built it to use during small game season on Fort Stewart. Pigs are considered small game there.

Somehow I bet strycnine has a PSE crossbow upper for his AR's too.

Hell for no other reason the the bolts have a sharp point end to them...you know just like a KNIFE!!

Just ribbing ya' stryc.  The ML AR is pretty cool.
I would still like to see a video of you w/ the 'rabbit police'.  You all decked out in the latest mil-spec camo, vest gloves, bellacava, a monster 2~24x87 scope & the ML AR.

The armalite mount would be just fine for that thing. What caliber is it? I love that thing.

edit for spelling: Dude, I just thought of something, could you modify a 7.62 by 25 case to accept a 209 shotgun primer?

That would give you enough ignition power to ignite those preformed 50 grain pellets. Makes things a lot easier if you are not a BP enthusiast and just want to hunt with it. You don't have to measure the powder charge, just drop in two of those pellets for a 100 grain charge.

I just went out and did the test fire. It appears to have decent recoil with 100gr of Pyrodex pellets.

I love the smell of black powder. I'll try to do a small video today if I can find my tri-pod.

How do you add a video?

I assume that is a normal AR lower? Would that not still be considered a Title I firearm, rather than a non-firearm/unregulated like muzzleloaders are?

It's pretty neat either way.
